I think there should be a way to demolish old structures that aren't being used or even that ARE being used. And when you destroy it you get some wood for it.
This would definitely help decrease the server load and increase frame rate. (Have you visited a PVE server lately? Shit is littered everywhere and the lag is horrendous. You can't even play)
Especially wooden shelters. If they gave wood when you destroyed them, you wouldn't see empty ones littering the landscape. Maybe make it to where if they don't have doors on them, you can take them down and reclaim some wood in the process.
As for the large bases, I'm not sure how we could work that out.
