guys were building houses and there are people with so much crap that they use bombs on our shack and they have everything in the game to raid us with when all we got is a hatchet you need to do a wipe so everyone starts off new now that ur selling game keys

That's going to happen regardless of a wipe or not, trust me.
Devs aren't using wipes for gameplay improvement, they do them to lessen server load and they are looking for long-term solutions to prevent such a strain on the servers.
I believe they are doing a "stress test" on the server currently. To see how much builds the server can handle before it crashes. So it might be a while for a restart.

The point they're trying to make is that there is never a "level playing field" in Rust. The stronger/dominant players build and thrive and the weaker/newer players are preyed upon. Such is the nature of a PvP game.
