I'm pretty sure this game was released on Steam December 17th, and now it says the 11th. The Dayz SA was released on the 16th, and I'm almost positive that the Dayz SA was released on Valve before Rust. FP has a habit of lying about whatever they want, whether it's the games they've created between garry's mod and rust, or the day and time of the last patch. Does anyone else remember? Of course, I could totally be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is just another one of their lies.

I think you just have a bad memory and a shitty attitude towards garry.

HOW DARE THEY?!?! The hundreds of hours I've spent in this game have been WASTED now that I know they lied about the release date!!!
COME CLEAN GARRY!!! Which date was it? THE PEOPLE DEMAND ANSWERS!
In other news: idiots look for absolutely anything to bitch about.
It was totally the 11th.. and now this guy can't get his facts right.... *sigh*
My attitude is only as good as Garry's (or yours for that matter.)
Thanks for the links. The reason I asked was because I thought I could be wrong.

Nah, you're an idiot who is complaining about an alleged 6 day difference on the release date of a game, and offering that up as a sign that facepunch has abused your trust. Not buying it bro.

Okay, well if your steam account has 71 hours, then I don't expect you too.
Scam? Seriously?
It's a release date... why does it matter?
In fact, one could argue that there should be no release date since the game hasn't officially released yet.
I don't understand why this is even a topic of discussion.
I did notice IGN got 1 thing wrong. They called it an early release beta. But thats the only thing i saw wrong.
Let's just make assumptions on why this really matters. Here's mine:
I say the OP had an argument with a friend about how Rust followed Dayz in every single way, they even had the nerve to release their alpha game just like Dayz Standalone did, except a day after. However he lost the bet when his friend linked him to steam and showed that Rust came out a week earlier.
Losing a bet hurts, and imo, Garry is to blame.
Rust was on steam before that even, if you played in a web player, you were given a steam key even before it became publicly available. Regardless, this is the dumbest fucking thing I have read all day and you should be ashamed. You are literally trying to bash rust because the date doesn't match up quite right. That logic.
If thats the dumbest thing youve heard all day... tell me where u live so I can join you in heaven
FP has a habit of lying about whatever they want, whether it's the games they've created between garry's mod and rust, or the day and time of the last patch.
You do not actually own Garry's mod or Rust and now telling us "Fp has a habit of lying".What will they(FP) going to earn actually telling by giving false day for the last patch ?
""Things will change a lot" hahahahah, if I was in the EU I would have already gotten my refund"
Yeah, suuuure. While buying an early access game you are actually accepting their terms. So how in the earth you are planning to have a refund ?
Besides that,i think you were a guy who cheated before, because the Steam account you just linked to FP account actually seems fresh.
Ah
Is this what "trolling" has become? Nice 8 posts.

Ah, well I read the the Steam Subscriber Agreement . So apparently, if you live in the EU, there are certain terms of exception you have, because you are buying digital property. I'm not a lawyer, so I don't understand everything,, but it says, "YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO WITHDRAW FROM A TRANSACTION OR OBTAIN A REFUND ONCE DELIVERY OF THE CONTENT HAS STARTED OR THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SERVICE HAS COMMENCED, AT WHICH POINT YOUR TRANSACTION IS FINAL." I could argue that my delivery of content has never started! According to the new release date, it has been out for four months? What new content has been added? A new sky they bought from the unity store? Or maybe the fact that you can't choose ur gender even though it's FREE! IT'S FREE!!!!!! They've hardly add anything that real video game players could ever enjoy and they know it. Instead of acknowledging and becoming better, they've done nothing but adopt a patronizing attitude!
Second, I never cheated in this game. My Steam account is worth over 500$, so I'd never cheat. Do you have 500$ to throw away? Besides, who do you think is still playing the game? Cheaters!

They officially took my money.
I'd say it was in beta since they are redoing the rocks yet again, Steam says it's in Alpha, and you're gonna try and argue that it's in some sort of paid pre-alpha.
What should we call it then? A pre-release concept game that will be used to finance further development on the "alpha"? How long will that take? How many people would have purchased the game if they'd been told it was a "concept game"?
This game is in alpha, no one gets to rewrite the rules now that things are taking longer then hoped.
As for the topic, the OP is wondering why the dates were changed or if they were mistaken that the dates were changed. Was it something like this?
"18th March Update
Posted on March 19, 2014 by Maurino Berry"
Or is it because GarrysDayZ wants to try and make it look like they are not just a dayzXminecraft knockoff?
This is a topic of discussion because it is shady as hell to try and alter dates that games were released. Why would someone try and pretend that their game was released earlier then it was? Does it somehow benefit me? No. So when I see a developer do something that I perceive as underhanded, or shady, I ask myself why they'd do it. If it's not for my benefit then who's benefit is it for?

So, explain to me, how it's still not a scam! I know your game, you post early in the new thread, so everyone that reads it will listen to your retort! But argue with me! How is anything they've ever said the truth? Did they say they'd come out with relolvers before it happened? That makes them SO honest...

IIRC the update was released on the 18th but the release note was late and got posted on the 19th hence the miss-matched date stamp

Than who hoped? I don't think garry and the rest of the devs had any illusions that the game would be finished anytime soon. It's you morons who bought into an early alpha without any concept of what you were buying, and then throwing the blame back at the devs and holding them to your unrealistic expectations, you're the ones who hoped things would be done by now. And it's you who are the ones who are getting their panties in a knot over needing to get constant news from the devs about how fast they're working for your twenty dollars.

I like how you're trying to play it off like they are working. Show my some progress, any progress to prove what you're said. A few screenshots that are months old at this point do not make your point btw.
And yes I do like to know that the game is not abandoned by it's developer and the best way to know that is for them to tell me it's not. The 'shut up and wait for new content' attitude does not make you look cool, it makes you look like an ungrateful asshole. I happen to buy early access games, this is the not my first alpha. However this is the first alpha where I've had the dev talk to me like I was a child for wanting to know that they didn't abandon this game.
I've been waiting for Project Zomboid to be finished for quite some time now but at least they let me know that they are working on their game still, plus they don't talk down to me.
I like how you're calling people morons when all you do is troll these forums all day talking shit to people, what, do they pay you? Or is that your own convoluted logic you're throwing around?
People are tried of waiting for this game, look at the quickly eroding player base and tell me everything is fine. Lie to yourself good man but you're bad attitude and name calling will not help your "argument".
Than who hoped? I don't think garry and the rest of the devs had any illusions that the game would be finished anytime soon. But seriously, i actually did reply to you. It's too bad I didn't see that before I apologized. How is it not a scam? I'd say a scam is where they build up the momentum to buy your trust than poop on it and tell you it's your fault. Sure, maybe you guys get off on that, maybe it makes the night worth going home too, but that's not what we wanted. And maybe you liked than even more...

Do you understand that plans can be general and have incomplete endings while still being fundamentally intact? If you're having problems with the logic being used in the Early Access blurb, I'm not sure you should be responsible for purchasing games on your Steam account.
Omg, are you stupid? Four months is "unrealistic?" You must be stupid!
Four months to what? Release? Some massive, vaguely-defined overhaul that makes Rust near perfect that you're expecting but haven't mentioned?
Because if you expect Rust to jump from early alpha to late beta quality in four months, that's not unrealistic, that's plain you must be high.

They are getting the foundations of the game fleshed out. You seem to misunderstand what their priorities are, and confuse a lack of usable, playable content to keep you entertained with "progress".
People who are tired of waiting for this game should've paid more attention to what they were buying. If they're all leaving for the reasons you say they are, their expectations were set way too high, as are yours, and everyone would do well to accept that instead of throw it on the devs and label it failure.
That's kind of the total opposite of how we feel. We don't mind that server populations are dropping. We don't mind that player counts are dropping. The last thing we want to to is encourage people to take part in the alpha with a sale or any other kind of marketing/promotion.
We're in early development. We need to develop the game. That's what will increase (and keep) player participation.
Man i´ve been watching the whole discution and man this is just ridiculous becouse the both are right in certain aspects.
SayMeow you´re right you´ve the reason to complain becouse Rust dev team aint´t posting new stuff
And elixwhitetail you´re right becouse we all need time to create and fix things and some of the devs are posting new screenshoots
I say that Yes the developers of the game are being a bit lazy about posting new content but they´re working on it!
The game isn´t all about content is about changing the feeling of the play replace bad coding becouse that makes so much diference when you´re developing and playing!
Just saying!.

Good luck with that, you do not know anything about early access or alpha stages.Go and look at the Starforge, they have releasing every patch per 3-4 months or more.I have seen no one complained about that.So you are actually waiting to Facepunch to develop all the stuff at once which is impossible.
Other than that, link your true account or just go away.
Next time, before clicking to buy button on Steam, think about it,chico
4 months isn´t a lot of time to make big improvements add veichles new guns when you have the game with so bad coding that is being replaced for better one and changing things to not be exploitable.
but seriously why the hell reinvent the camp fire? It´s silly the rocks and the wood piles ok but you can do that later on when you´ve added something new to the game dev team!
