Are they going to make the map bigger or is it going to stay the way it is.
They improve the current one and make more parts of it playable.
Ok thanks!

Improve maybe, but i belive this map is just placeholder.
As far as I can tell the premise of the "MAP" is to be an island and currently we only have a peninsula. My guess (for what it is worth) is we are on say 1/4 of the projected map... if that. Could even be an 1/8th... Time will tell.
they doing a new map with rivers, seas etc..
currently map is 16km², where only 2km² is developed with nodes and animals.
new map will be around 8km² big and everything developed.
the info i got from trello few months ago, but the trellocard is not there anymore.
maybe in privat trello.

You can look up the entire map, and indeed it is closer to an 1/8th of the island. We're not playing on a peninsula considering the entire northeast part is wide open, mountainous grassland.

Agreed, we have a lot of open area off the beaten path. They have done well to recently expand the resources in those areas to promote exploration and/or reduce over crowding.

They added nodes? I'll have to explore out past hacker valley and above Portugal, I wasn't aware of this.
hm are you sure?
with the update where they changed the graphics for the nodes they also changed alittle bit where they spawned.
so maybe they are just 100m in another direction outside of hackervalley?
would be surprised if there are now nodes and stuff beyond mt everust or very far in the east.
Perhaps you are correct. I noticed the nodes had been more evenly spread out. I have not check extremely far east in a bit. Worth checking I suppose.

Most likely and as you may have noticed during server loads it says "Loading Map Rust_Island_2013" or something like that.
This would lead one to believe that other different types of maps can be added in later, which various servers could choose from.
I'd like to see some heavy jungle or arctic/winter style maps later on.
Even if they do expand on this current map and make the playing area larger, over time, this one map can and will get repetitive. Having 3-4 + to choose from will certainly make things interesting over time.
The area with nodes is smaller than 1/8th of the whole landmass. The whole map is MASSIVE and indeed it is an island.
As an admin you can port to coordinates. We discovered the coordinates go from X,Z -7000, -7000(roughly) to X,Z 7000, 7000.
So the total area is 14000 by 14000. So 196km? squared
The area being played on right now is 5000 by 3000(roughly) so 15km? squared.
Which is less than 8% of the entire landmass. So the entire Island area is more than 12 times the area currently played on.
it ll be smaller
