• Are private run servers against the rules?

Over the past few weeks, I've played on numerous servers... Some of which had exceptional performance comparitively. Whenever I find what I consider an exceptional server, I'll ping it and then learn some information about the server to try and figure out who the host (GSP) is, so I can kind of catalogue in my mind which ones are better and which ones are not so good... That way when I buy a server in the future, I'll know who to use. All this to explain that I've pinged several servers who were running on dedicated private servers... Some are NFO servers (which doesn't host Rust at all), and some are just plain jane dedicated servers that people have set up themselves in server clusters. They somehow managed to get the server files themselves, and are hosting their own version of the game, yet it's still showing up in the rust server list. 1) How is that possible? 2) Is that allowed?
Pirates using leaked versions of the server. It's not legit or allowed at the moment. Only GSPs are supposed to have complete access to the server files, at the moment.
so... should I report said servers when I come across them, and to whom?
Yes, yes you should. Pirating the server files to host your own server instead of giving your money to the hard working GSPs is evil and should always be reported. ;^)

If you catch someone advertising a pirate server on the Facepunch forums, report the post/tell a mod and be sure to include the evidence you have that it's a leaked server and not a valid GSP server if the idiot's own post does not make that clear. (Don't reply in the actual thread, you'll only cause trouble. Just go straight to a mod.) Otherwise, the less you talk about them, the better. Posting the IP of a warez'd server, even to report it to the devs, is just advertising, since the Rust devs can't exactly call the Internet Cops and have the colo raided and the pirate server shut down.
We're partnered with NFO, so some of our hardware resolves to them. But that should only be a handful of servers.
What GSPs are using NFO hardware? I really am sick of the GSPs Garry has allowed to run servers. FPSplayer is only allocationg 1.6GBs of ram for about 150 slots before forcing restarts.... After testing was done on NFOs server they claim 40 slots idled at about 45% cpu usage and 1.2GBs of ram steady. Do the math on that one and you can see why all of the current big servers are craptastic. Which server providers are actually willing to put money behind their servers. Or can you please accept NFOs request to be a GSP so someone can do it properly. Your current selected providers do not care about your customers gaming experience. sorry if my numbers are slightly off as i typed them off of memory but here is the source of my knowledge.
