SLI is taking a massive performance hit and crossfire is broken altogether due to Unity and how it manages full screen (more of a borderless windowed). This kills SLI performance and breaks crossfire and cannot/will not be solved by the GPU vendors.
Is facepunch planning on looking into this issue to fix it?.
With the dawn of 4k gaming (i use a 40" 4k for work and occasional gaming) running a single flaship card is simply not enough, and stretching 1080p looks awful.
Please look into fixing it as I have seen other devs using Unity looking into what they can do to fix it as well.
Cheers,
Rob.
unfortionatly i doubt 4k gaming will be a standard anytime soon, the monitors are just way to expensive for the average consumer and the gpu's we have today just are not up to the task of handling 4k res very well, in two years or so(my opinion) i think everything will be in order, 4k should be the price of quality 1440p monitors and the latest flagship cards should be up to the task with a single gpu
I'm sure SLI support is planned, but I doubt it's a priority right now. I use SLI as well but only one card gets utilized.

I realize this but the fact remains that even people running on a 1080p should also be able to enjoy SLI/Xfire without having to have 1 card maxing out 100% all the time. It's much better for the health of GPU's for them to share equal loads like they used to with Rust.
And it isnt so much the Dev's themselves to fix it it's more-so for them to raise to the team over at Unity as it's their specific updates in the last 5 months that have broken it.
Apart from that I am enjoying this game a ton even though having to run my water pump harder to enjoy the shinies sucks :P.
