Hey!
As the title says...
Is the Rusty Navigator bannable?
For those who dont know it, its a tool that sniffs the Rust packets to show your exact location on the rust map..
with direction and that kind of stuff.
Sounds kind of like a hack.
Does it modify core game files at any point?
"RustyNav helps you find out where you are in the game on a 2D map. It passively sniffs packet data to read location information."
thats what the creator of this tool said... if you want, i can give you the link to this site so
you can read and see it for yourself ;)
"passively"
If all it does is sniff packets I think you should be O.K.
Don't take my word for it though. Let's get a few more responses.
K :) i hope someone has a got answer for that :/
it works with "WinPcap".
From a cheater-forum:
this is unbannable since it doesnt inject anything into the game. it basically just captured packets from between your computer and the rust server and reading whats in them, not editing anything.

unless VAC decides to be a deuche and check for if this program is running through simple md5, process name, etc. All which can easily be changed, but thats the deuche idea.
anyway... I wouldn't mess around with this stuff.

How about you just play the game how it is and stop trying to cheat?
For future reference, here is the oxford definition of cheating:
Act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage.
I don't know why anyone would think it's okay to use this and I hope that vac or facepunch will ban players for this crap.
I would love to see them implement a craftable compass in the game.. I was never one for navigating with the sun :/

Prebuilt crosshairs on the monitor, better computer with more RAM and faster processing speed, gamma buffing is a advantage. meaning it is cheating, also better internet connection is cheating.
JS.

I don't really get how a faster PC or a better connection is being 'dishonest' or 'unfair'.

If this is how you feel....go buy a console because you don't deserve to play on a PC.

?????? How do you consider someone with a faster computer and a solid internet connection to be cheating?
Learn the map, it took me about 2 days of playing to learn it.

Except consoles generally provide you with a hacker free experience
Xbox Live at least
If you're concerned about it being seen as a cheat, then why not take the safe road and NOT use it?
Also, everyone here is pretty much convinced you're a cheater just for asking about it sooooo.....
I wouldn't mess around with it. Playing around with something that changes a mechanic of a game can always be a risk. Unless you are entirely certain of what it does and how it does it, don't use it.
That's unfair to everyone else so I would say it's cheating, because you have an artificial advantage to others. The map takes a few days to learn, and then you should be able to know where you are at, at all times pretty much.

He's saying anyone with a better PC than what he has is cheating...you totally missed the point lol

This is true, rather than voting dumb, people should understand my statement.
On a PC you can have multiple advantages to games without injecting.
My PC screen doesn't have a prebuilt crosshair.
Me going out and buying one would be the same as buying hacks.
I don't have the best PC.
I would have to spend quite a bit of money which i don't have right now to buy a whole PC or build one up.
Better computers and specs is a form of cheating whether you think so or not.
Think outside the bubble instead of inside it.
Just so you know.....
The question is "Is Rusty Navigator bannable ?"
Simple
1. I dont want to use cheats in any way.
2. I dont want to get VAC banned, if i can avoid it.
3. I dont need any kind of cheats to play rust.
The only reason for me to use this tool is that it is hard to find 4 friends after our base got raided.
If i would want to use any kind of hacks, i would use some kind of hacking site out there.
I just cant understand some of your problems with "How about you just play the game how it is and stop trying to cheat?".
If i would try to cheat, i wouldnt ask about it in this forum.
Some people just cant read.
I think most of the people in this forum would consider "Rusty Navigator" to be cheating, whether or not it gets you banned. There's a way to easily avoid VAC bans, its called "playing the game as intended." If you don't need to use 3rd party software to help you play rust, then why are you asking about it?
We read what you write. Perhaps we read it too well for your taste.
Trying to use other programs to give you a map in a game that has no maps is cheating.
If you are going to use it, then I hope you get banned for it because its cheating in my book.
I don't know if you'd get banned. Quite frankly, I wouldn't take the risk.
Why not pull up a map on a second monitor, if you have one, or perhaps on your phone?
It's usually pretty easy to find out where you are once you get to the road or a town.
The whole "sniffs packets passively" sounds dangerously like how a cheat would advertise itself. "VAC-proof!" "No bans!" "Passive!" -- those kinds of phrases worry me.

So the guy with the better car is cheating at driving? The dude with the hotter chick is cheating at dating? The dude with the bigger bank account is cheating at work?
You're a fucking idiot.
That is all.

Agreed.
Also, I have a bigger dick, so I'm obviously cheating at life. :zoid:
I feel I should clarify that I'm just joking, before people start reporting me lol.
Cheating in a game like Rust should be defined as "Circumventing a purposeful in-game restriction." This way we don't get a bunch of stupid conversation with people saying things like "Well my computer is better, is that cheating!?" (Because it's obviously not, and that's a dumb question that just exploits a bad definition.)
Would it be cheating if you sniffed with Wireshark?
"passively"

This is a guy posing in military uniform giving us the finger; therefore, anything he says is invalid and stupid.

i wouldnt use any program that isnt associated with fp or has their express permission. then you wont have a problem.
as someone said, it literally only takes a few days of playing before you can spawn anywhere and instantly know where you are. At least with the current map.
Your using a 3rd party program to give you an advantage.... Its a hack and SHOULD be bannable

That's not me though, it's another user on this forum.
