win/1179/0 date: 1/22/05 win/1189/0 date: 1/25/05 Format- What = What it does. How = How to do it. Motive = Its advantage or exploitable nature. Why = Why it's happening. Opinion = 2 cents. Personal Light. - What -- Allows the player to use a torch the light up their surroundings *client side* without generating light *server side*. How -- Player wields a torch, lights the torch in First person view *default view*, then snuffs out the torch. Player then goes into 3rd person view *F3* with torch in hand and are now actively lighting up their surrounding area with an unlit torch. Motive -- Players will be able to use the torch at night without giving away their position to other players. Why -- State confusion. Opinion -- All for it. It kills the down time of base whoring till sundown/server hoping to a "sun's up!" alt server + low risk of detection from bandits & low traffic exploration and farming = happy night owls. If you're gonna fix this, fix it last. I love it. Only legit replacement for this wonderful feature I can conjure is night vision but ugg... not a fan of green tinted 'gameboy vision' 3rd person view vision through walls (walls, ground, objects). - What -- Allows players to view through built structures and misc rocks. How -- Player goes into 3rd person view and collide their view point past a wall. Motive -- This allows the player to recon intel of another players base OR of their base's surrounding within their confines: that they would not be able to do otherwise, if it was not visually exposed. Why -- Camera noclips. Opinion -- Not for it. Though 3rd person doesn't give you the "eyeballs inside head" view, like in legacy, when colliding with solid objects, its passively overpowered in this regard. If no inner walls are built in the potential raid victims base you can get full view of whats on any floor you can meet vertically outside *being up against the base*. Likewise, it works for the base owner being able to view their entire surroundings from the corners of their floors. Floors for walls. Vertical structures=/=Horizontal structures. - What = Allows the player to craft floor structures as wall structures. horizontal: pillars, bigblocks, walls; Vertical doorways, etc, all builds except foundations How = Trial and error of angling the players point of view around a pillar (at start, it can chain build the same way off the side of structure placed in that manner already. Motive = Metal floors as walls to be used over stone walls and outrageously bizarre builds, though metal floors seem to take more base damage initially *shrugs*. . Why = I don't have a clue. Opinion = It's weird. I thought metal floor-walls would of been an advantage but they got ate through easier than stone walls, especially via ak's. But, the build possibilities, I've seen angled cannon statues to stairs playing off of M. C. Escher's Relativity painting. Not sure if intended, but damn interesting. Will post back when I discover more. GL ~SnS Update: 1-23-2015 Shoot & access, players & objects via *popping* through floors. - What = The ability to *physically* be positioned a floor below a target and kill it/access it from that floor with no exposed opening or entry. How = Going from crouched to standing on an elevated structure *Bigblock, half-spaced floor, furnace, stairs* that is directly below a floor and the upper half of your body goes through the ceiling. Motive = Immediate & surprise attack to secured or unbreached areas and access to reachable lootables. Why = The server recognizes that the player is blocked from advancing upward (jumping) but disregards this limit when going from crouched to standing. Opinion = Fix it. Holy hell. I abused this twice on sleeping players... how is this even... WHY. Skyforts - What = Structures that are off the grounds. How = Player builds a tall base with lots of pillars & floors (walls work too) then destroys the foundations. Motive = *Player interpretation from 500 yards up* "YOU'LL NEVER GET MY SHIT!" Why = Somehow x amount of pillars + floors = foundation not needed. Opinion = Floating cancer. Edit: 1/25/05 win/1189/0 Hiding in terrain. (props to "KerriganSon" for find) - What = Allows the player to hide in object generated by the map that has accessible ground under an outward diagonal slant. How = Player acquires a sleeping bag and places it near a rock, cave maw, or large enough root in such a way that when they respawn from the sleeping bag the majority of their body will spawn inside the hollowed husk of the object. Incorrectly, not far enough in, will force them out, similair to the effect of being on a steep hill. Motive = The object cannot be penetrated by any other normal means even gun fire but can be exited and shot out of *note: not into* leaving whoever crosses its path at the mercy of its inhabitant. A protective bubble that you can safely attack from in all view-able directions. Why = Player collision with the object is bypassed by spawning within it far enough that they are out of range of its exterior that would, otherwise, block them or force them back out. Opinion = Extreme hide n seek. Limited invulnerability range wise. Usually resolved by an admin snooping an abusers location. If the ground was surpass-able (not an object on it) that means full map access via sea level, no luck on this yet. Extremely surprising, limited exploit-ability so far.
I can confirm before last fridays update I seen a doorway with door flat horizontal. I also seem to see a few foundations that dont touch the ground but are connected to ones that do.
I can confirm before last fridays update I seen a doorway with door flat horizontal.
told ya. crazy shit.
I also seem to see a few foundations that dont touch the ground but are connected to ones that do.
I've only seen that from triangle foundations.
Update with more finds.
You should add the glitch people use to get into rocks (I mean the landscape ones) and shoot through those rocks (similar to what was happening in legacy with sleeping bag trick under rocks). Not sure how they do it, but I've been shot multiple times from inside rocks. They cannot be damaged, and it's very unfair.
Update again
I can confirm before last fridays update I seen a doorway with door flat horizontal. I also seem to see a few foundations that dont touch the ground but are connected to ones that do.
I see that from a distance a lot due to multiple part rocks. Getting closer loads the other part in, which was often closer than the one I saw before it. Looking in a slightly different direction works too sometimes
