Been playing in a really great PVE server for the last couple days. Very few hackers, nice people, etc. Today, we had a lot of noobs joining, and I got tired of hearing the same "Is this pvp or pve" question after the 20th time. Jokingly, I told one guy "PVP ON. TEAM DEATHMATCH. ALL DAY ERR DAY." I then proceeded to joke about how we were all bandits and that I only drink the blood of my enemies. Typical stuff, really. Some guy jumped in side chat telling me to "stfu." I replied "FUCK YOU!!" as most would when told randomly to stfu. Turns out this guy was an admin, didn't find me very funny, and proceeded to ban me. When I asked why I was being kicked (apparently it took him some tries to get it right) I was told that it was for not shutting the fuck up. So I'm now banned from a server that I liked, because the admin decided he didn't like me. Not that I knew he was an admin, I had never seen him online before and he was just some dude talking in side chat as far as I could tell.
On to my point. A few of the other players found me pretty funny, and I think it's a little messed up that I'm now banned from a server I've enjoyed for the past 4 days because the admin (who apparently only logs in once a week) decided I was mean. I really doubt this is the first time this has happened, as it seems there are others on this forum complaining about bad admins. Bans should be by vote. If the players on the server find a person offensive, or problematic, let the admin put it to a vote. Hackers, cheaters, and the like obviously ban them straight away. But an admin shouldn't have the power to ban someone just because they didn't find them funny, or because they expect players to listen to them. You're an admin. You aren't my boss, you aren't my mother, you definitely aren't my wife. I have no reason to respect you, particularly if you never seem to care to log in, or if you don't make yourself known as an admin. You're just another player who has a few more tricks, and you shouldn't be allowed all the power.

On private servers, it's up to the admin.
Why the fuck would admin controls be put up for a democratic vote? Get over yourself and find a better server.
You shouted "fuck you" at the owner of the server, and you failed to make clear that you were joking. If you did that in my house I'd ask you to leave as well.

Yes, this. Put in a complaint with the server's forum if they have one, and then move on, there's over 1,000 other servers out there.
