I tried to play the "new" rust for quite some weeks now and I just thought it was gonna be fixed, but till today its still the same.
When I play legacy rust I get decent fps (60+) on normal or around 45 on max.
But if I launch the experimental on even the fastest, I start to get very low fps even in the menu.
I also Pressed F2 and disabled everything and got from like 8fps to around 15-25.
Anybody else having the same problems and/or knows how to fix them?
Did a fresh install to Windows 7 from Win 8.1 and still the same.
My laptop specs:
Intel i7 - 4600MQ
Nvidia GTX 770m
8 GB RAM
Thanks!
same rough specs (i7, nvidia 710m, plenty of ram), get about 12-16 FPS with all settings on high, up to 20-25 FPS with all the bells and whistles turned off. it seems to partly be the ghosting going on with trees in mid distances. they disappear, but reappear at long or short ranges. maybe some optimization going on? either way, its experimental, there's plenty of work still to come;)
I have a Gtx 550ti and with everything maxed on experimental I get around 40+ frames. Just hold out for a bit, Garry is still doing optimizations to the game and things will get better over time
They made a patch for the legacy which boosted the fps immense i guess
its been worked on for the experimental too
You're on an m series card, try to make sure if there's any form of power saving settings anywhere on your system/to do with rust, you definitely disable them. And also, those cards are not adequate for running Rust in all of it's maximum 1080p glory. Though you seem to be experiencing lower performance than expected for your cards as well, to be fair.
Laptop cards tend to have a large number of possible reasonings for underpowering themselves. You should use a program like gpu-z and ensure that when Rust is running, your video card isn't underclocking itself for any reason. This would mean dropping upto or more than like 100mhz from its average advertised speed. (For a 770m, this is around 800-900mhz. So if it goes under like 700-730, it's underpowering itself due to thermals or power saving profiles)
If you find that this isn't happening, then it's likely a problem with Rust itself then, and you'll have to try to submit your information and circumstances to support and hope they patch it in a quick jiffy, or have a localized solution for you.
Thank you, I downloaded GPU-Z and realized that it wasn't actually Nvidia gpu even tho it is stated in Nvidia control panel that it should use it. Added it again and still the same. The only way it will work if I go to the experimental folder and right click on rust.exe and click run with Nvidia gpu.
Getting a stable 50 on good now :)

Glad to hear it, I'll have to remember that if i help another person. Sometimes the onboard graphics controller doesn't think rust is a game and doesn't run it with the gpu O_O
