• Pipe Shotgun. Does it need a nerf?

So a few days ago i noticed that the pipe shotgun is better then the normal military shotgun. It has a better accuracy and a very low damage difference not only that but its ammo is very easy to make and can be made in quantity. Now lets go over to the normal shotgun it has a higher damage but lower accuracy and yes i know it can have 8 shells in at a time making it better in a 1v2 or 1v3 etc but when it comes down to 1v1 combat the pipe shotgun has a much more cheaper ammo better accuracy and very little damage difference. This is just my opinion feel to post opinions below.
Make a choke mod for normal shotgun, so unmodded is what it is now, but choked one has same damage/accuracy as pipe shotty.
I think the range of this thing is ridiculous it wrecks kids the damage is op too.
I hear it is inconsistent with the amount of projectiles that come out of it though.

It provides a way for those with limited resources to put themselves on a relatively level playing field with better equipped players in the form of a weapon with the considerable drawback of only firing once per reload. I don't think that really needs to be changed but then as I said, I haven't used it yet. It doesn't get mod slots either right? Not that most of the mods are all that useful for a shotgun type weapon anyway but that seems like another balancing drawback to using it.

But i have to agree on the part of keeping them up to level but still thats just saying its to strong. The weapon is used by people in full kevlar because of how long the cost is and how strong it is which kind of shows that this weapons is a little to strong.

It just shows that the weapon isn't useless. People will always want to minimize the potential losses from a death so if there's a cheap weapon option that they can make good use of, they will. As I understand it, they wanted to eventually get rid of the more modernized weapons anyway (which makes sense considering you couldn't manufacture most of them without modern machining) so this could really just be the first step in that process.
You guys do know its a shotgun right?
I always figured kevlar folks kept it as a low cost way to kill naked folks running circles around them without spraying their m4s.
I always figured kevlar folks kept it as a low cost way to kill naked folks running circles around them without spraying their m4s.
That's probably true. I find people still spray their m4s plenty though. It's not like the ammo is expensive (2 metal 1 gunpowder iirc and they didn't change it in the recent patch) and you can find plenty on zombies and in crates. I had a full stack of m4 ammo after a day of playing without having manufactured a single round. The real problem now is the m4 itself which costs 375 metal to make.
You guys do know its a shotgun right?
Duh. Your point?
Im just saying the weapon is way to reliable.
It's being nerfed.
As I understand it, they wanted to eventually get rid of the more modernized weapons anyway
I think Helk said they wouldn't be getting rid of them, but rather making them significantly harder to obtain (so homemade weapons would be the main weapons you craft, but it's still possible but unlikely to get your hands on a military weapon)

Well while were on the subject of makeshift weapons. Anyone have an opinion on the hand cannon? I haven't used one yet, but I hear most people dislike it. Whats the deal?

Whats the deal?
it takes random amount of tries to go off :P +you have to shoot from hip. Though it's cool for shooting zombies.

In the end, if the theme stays the same modernized weapons should only be obtainable by finding them the same way you can now. Unless they're going to add the ability to work your way up to modern machining, it doesn't really make much sense to let people actually craft things like m4s. They're a bit too complex for some guy to piece together from scrap metal at his workbench in his garage. That being said, a person could certainly craft some form of rifle with nothing but a workbench and some scrap metal. It just wouldn't be as precise, would be pretty heavy and not terribly likely to be a self repeating weapon.

What if you had to find some rare un-craftable gizmo(s) to create a more advanced workbench thats purpose was to allow the construction of military grade weaponry.

At least it would provide some form of explanation as to why someone would be able to craft such complex weapons from what they found out in the wilderness...
