STILL get empty server lists with the "Experimental"/new default version of Rust

I have done all the things I have seen posted. Deleted/Reinstalled Rust a few times, deleted/reinstalled Steam a few times. Manually started EAC a few times. Have the Steam overlay disabled. With the task manager up I can see EAC change status from "stopped" to "running" when I fire Rust up. At the Rust screen I get "Start Game" and "Exit" (No options) and the server list is always empty. I've been trying these things since the Experimental branch was first offered.
Now that the branch has gone "Live"/default, I would REALLY like to be able to play Rust again. I'm running on a top end X51 system on Windows 7. I run BitDefender for my system protection. I never had any problems running the old branch of Rust, but I've NEVER been able to run the new version. I also use the MVPS Hosts file, which by default disables Google Analytics. I mention that because the LOTRO Store would not work without the Google Analytics. I saw in one of the DevBlogs where he said he was working with Google Analytics (on some part of the project). I'm grasping at straws.
I have really enjoyed the game, and would love to keep playing (on the NEW version). I'm to the point where I either need to resolve this issue, or just move on from the game. I'm tired of deleting/reinstalling/testing and still not being able to do anything more than look at an empty server list.
Thanks in advance for any HELP.
Now is an unfortunate time to try and play, as almost no one is able to connect to any servers for any reasonable length of time.
However, once everything is running again, have you considered manually connecting to a server using the console? The command is client.connect xx.xx.xx.xx:xxxxx I'll leave it up to you to find a server IP to connect to.
On top of what Rayne said, you'll need to be certain the EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) service is running while Rust Experimental is active, otherwise no servers will come up on the list.
Make sure you're not in Beta.
Thanks for the helpful replies. As I noted in my post, I have verified EAC functioning, and now I also checked Steam and it tells me I am not participating in any Beta.
I did look for a server IP that was running an Experimental server. BUT when I did the net.connect the console replied with 2 "Unknown command" messages. And shouldn't I see some kind of Options menu? Like volume control or gamma adjust? Wondering if it's broke big time, or those aren't out yet.
I was really hoping that when it became the default I would be able to play it. Oh well, the "Alpha" slider scale got fully reset so I'm really still in the very early Alpha of the New Version. lol

The latter. The HTML interface isn't ready yet. Options are changed via the launcher, and in-game through the F2 menu.
Closing this thread. The NEW Rust suddenly started working last week! Whatever it was - it's been fixed!
FYI the command is now client.connect <IP>
