i just bought rust with a couple of friends of mine, i cant play it because of the issues listed in the title. i tried looking for solutions but im not very good with computers, can someone help pls? Thanks in advance
take care your graphic cards drivers are updated. Do other games run? Try another resolution
forgot to mention my graphics card wich is AMD HD6800 runs mgsv like a charm, i have tried changing the resolutions but nothing, and the driver is up to date
Have you tried reinstalling Windows?
The reason you can't play is because your attempting to run the game on a potato. Recommended GPU for this game is a current gen model and you have one from 5 - 6 generations ago. Thread over. Your GPUs Performance: ///////////// Compared to recommended GPU performance: /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// Big difference. Now here's mimimum specs performance: /////////////////////////////////// See the problem?
i dont think thats the solution buddy, alot of my friends have played with worse computers, if mine is a potato i dont know what theirs is

You don't know what you're talking about. Real advice, try right clicking on the game in steam, go to properties, then local files and click "verify integrity of game cache". It sounds like the game might be missing some crucial files that it just didn't get the first time around. If that doesn't fix it, then check your gpu drivers. The latest ones aren't necessarily always what you want, so try using an earlier version if the problem keeps occurring.

Unity 5 doesn't magically make the game have good performance...
verifying the game cache has helped a with the crash on loadin, but there seems to be a setting that turns on from dx9 fast setting to dx9 simple setting that lowers my fps to the point of unplayability. Also, still have the black sky. i've been searching and i found out there seems to be some issues with amd video card. any clues on that?
AMD cards play Rust just fine, it's lower power cards that can't handle it that are the issue. If you really want to play properly, you could pick up a GTX 750Ti for around $100 - $150 US and people seem to be playing perfectly fine on these cards. You could get away with a bit lower of a card but I personally don't think it's work going lower as the card will be obsolete a lot faster then.

If your not willing to upgrade you GPU, come back to Rust when it is optimised.
You should probably give your full specs, not just your video card specs
You should probably give your full specs, not just your video card specs
Yeah this would be helpful to figure out a work around.
im telling you, right now a friend of mine with a worse video card is playing with no issues, if there isnt another solution sure ill wait or upgrade. my point is i dont think its a performance issue. and i came here trying to find a solution that doesnt involve waiting or paying more money [editline]7th October 2015[/editline] Windows 7 64bit i7 870 2.93 Ghz 6Gb Ram

I will say and confirm that yes, the game does have issues with crashing on server entrance (past month) and yes, it has been a ongoing issue with low fps. I have seen, although minimal, issues with the black sky. I would try and redo drivers and maybe even check your DX (which version are you running) and if all else fails, wait. It sucks, I know but there is alot of optimization issues with the game atm. Be patient, it will get worked out eventually
I'm honestly a bit sus about your friend using a worse video card than that and running fine, as there a plenty of cases where newer GPUs than that are incapable of running Rust, but really, at the moment it's a coin toss, you either run it good or you run it horrible, and if you get a bad roll then your gonna have problems. I've also seen cases of beast GPUs having issues with Rust. Reinstalling/Updating your OS could help but really until the Devs start optimising there isn't a huge amount you can do.
the dx version is dx11, at least i think xD
the dx version is dx11, at least i think xD
Try using the DX9 option
Try using the DX9 option
I am using the dx9 option
I am using the dx9 option
there is your problem there have been some issues with friends of mine using dx9 of black sky try starting the game normally
6 gb ram is a problem
6 gb ram is a problem
Yeah, my game STARTs at 6gb and proceeds to memory leak its way to 9gb before I get bored or it crashes. Aside from what's already been said, you'll just have to be patient. Waiting and reporting issues has solved 100% of my problems with the game.
Ok then, thanks everyone :)
Once again.. i play fine with ati 4870, so its hard for me to understand these claims he needs better gpu :huh:
I would look more at your CPU or RAM being the problem (prob not enough RAM).I run rust on graphics setting 2, 40-60 fps. My specs i7 4770 3.8mhz, hd6770. 16gb RAM. Almost no problems at all.

Thanks in advance
You don't get it, do you? This IS the game. Rust is a research simulator in which you have to solve puzzles every so often to get to play the game. Every week, Facepunch will deliver new challenges in form of updates that break your game and make you look for new solutions to amazing puzzles. Some call it the most intense human experiment there ever was: How much bullsh*t will a paying customer take until they will stop solving intricate challenges every week? Kidding aside, you might as well be praying to god instead of looking for answers here. I'm beginning to think the game is broke beyond repair so unless you're rocking some 980s in SLI with a top tier i7 don't even bother wasting your time on this game. I sure regret doing it.
Lol I get 15 frames in CS:GO. FML. I need money to get a gaming PC. I own Rust, but one time, back in the legacy days, I booted it up, and well, I got less than 10 frames. I managed to build a shack, a box, and I killed a guy and stole his m4. At 10 frames. Guess you can call me MLG because I then tried to climb up mount everust and then I logged off. Too laggy. Would a build with a GTX 970 and a Intel i5 run rust smoothly?

(sometimes drops but thats some game issue)
