HELP SUPER LOW FRAMERATE GAHHHH!!!! Hey guys, I love Rust and have been playing it non-stop, I even bought almost an entire new rig to run it efficiently, no dice. I run Titanfall on high graphics with great frames! It just sucks I have to play a game that I love on 20 frames. When I'm looking out towards sea or something it's just fine though. But when I look towards mountains or something in the render distance, my frames just go to shit. This is all with my graphics to the lowest of the low. Here are my specs, hopefully a kind soul can help me out! Thanks! Have you updated your drivers?
9.18.13.3523 is the newest driver version for his card, I just checked. There's likely a boot argument you can set to get better results but I don't know what any of them are off the top of my head... They're posted all over the forums though.
Boot argument? And yes my drivers are up to date.
Make sure the game is actually using the Nvidia GPU and not the integrated one.
Make sure the game is actually using the Nvidia GPU and not the integrated one.
How do I do that? Sorry not much of a techy :(
Not really sure with Nvidia as I have never user their cards. It should be on the control panel for the drivers.
Make a folder in the main rust folder called "cfg". Then make a new text file, paste this inside
gfx.ssaa False gfx.bloom False gfx.grain True gfx.ssao False gfx.tonemap False gfx.shafts False gfx.damage True grass.on False grass.forceredraw False grass.displacement True grass.disp_trail_seconds 0 grass.shadowcast False grass.shadowreceive True input.mousespeed 5 input.flipy False input.bind Left A None input.bind Right D None input.bind Up W None input.bind Down S None input.bind Jump Space None input.bind Duck LeftControl Mouse3 input.bind Sprint LeftShift None input.bind Fire Mouse0 None input.bind AltFire Mouse1 None input.bind Reload R R input.bind Use E None input.bind Inventory Tab None input.bind Flashlight F None input.bind Laser L None input.bind Voice V Mouse4 input.bind Chat Y Return render.distance 0 render.frames -1 render.vsync False sound.music 0.4 sound.volume 1 water.level -1 water.reflection False footsteps.quality 2
then click save as change the file type from .txt to "any" and name it client.cfg put this file inside that folder you made Hope it helps, if you want to revert back just delete the file and restart the game. Feel free to tweak any of the settings or remove any, this is just what I use.

Can anyone tell me why? It's just frustrating, some of my friends have awful computers and run it better than me...

I even bought 16 gigs of ram for a total of 20, and I only get like 60-90 fps. I was hoping for more 120+ stable but I guess that was too much to wish for.
20gb of RAM, wut?
my main rig has 64 GIG Ram second rig has 8 gb off Ram :-)
my main rig has 64 GIG Ram second rig has 8 gb off Ram :-)
What fps do you get? Video card? CPU?
Why? More than 16gb is a complete waste.
@ Kstacks, your issue is software,. Install a new fresh copy of windows to the small drive,. mobo drivers, gpu drivers, and tripple check windows update,. install steam/rust,. your system is good, but all that storage space has me wondering,. FYI, titanfall could run on a toaster oven. perfect notebook game,. edit, "thought it was a 200g small drive, you should still reinstall windows/drivers.." this is a good time to buy a 120 SSD if you have the cash,. them big slow drives kinda suck to be honest..

I heard something about modifying files and as a strict non-cheater I don't want to chance anything!
you wont get banned for use a config man :P
To those people who flagged the post meanly; I wouldn't have asked if I knew the answer, get over yourselves... That's cool Liten-Kaka, thanks for your response! Helpful!

You say it like everyone knows who he is lol...
I had major FPS issues with the latest patch until I turned water reflections off...even when not around water. Do you have this setting on?
