Rust crashes on startup (Running self check) ,I CANT PLAY PLEASE HELP ME
OS : WINDOWS 7 32 Bits
same problem here
Or random crashes during normal gameplay. No error signs or anything else. Just from ingame to desktop in 2 seconds ... No clue what causes this
I experience this myself, very frustrating to say the least.
Same. :(
I notice I am crashing to desktop when I am near a rad zone, not necessarily in it but when it becomes visible.
I am running on amd 7950 hd latest drivers, anyone from nvidia having crash to desktops?
Yes, I've been having the same issues. 16 gigs of ram and an AMD 6970. I'm starting to think its the amd's. I switched to playing in windowed mode and had a great time....forgot all about the crashes. Quit the game came back to another server then WHAM I'm staring at my desktop in a milisecond after playing for 30 minutes.
Are you saying that playing in windowed mode solves the crashes a lot of people (who seem to have AMD in common) are experiencing ?

I tested it in windowed mode, no difference.
Yeah this is clearly an AMD issue. Everyone I talk to has had this issue with an AMD card and not nVidia. A buddy of mine had an nvidia card lying around and swapped out his AMD and the problem magically went away.
I am running an AMD HD7950. I have found turning the settings down to "Fastest" has fixed the issue. Haven't crashed to desktop since. I was crashing every 5 minutes previously.

I am running 7950 as well, fastest didnt stop the crashes sadly.
AMD 7950 here, game crashing all the time as well
AMD R9 270x. Happens way too much to even play. I'm getting pissed.
Hi,
My brother has an AMD/ATI and those crashes too.
Yesterday he played in windowed mode for about 2 hours. He restarted the game and it kept crashing again.
He started in windowed mode, but this time chose the "Fastest" mode, and we've been able to play for about 3 hours yesterday evening with no crashes at all.
On his computer rusts use about 5-6 Go of RAM. I haven't checked on my computer but 5-6 Go seems a lot to me. Maybe his hardware is triggering a memory leak. I don't know ...

To correct my last statement, it seems to mostly have stopped them, I had one crash shortly after, but none since.
Turning the graphics down to fastest also stopped my crashes.
Just played on dev server and enjoyed the new ui, but after some time still crashed to desktop :(
edit: not sure if coinsinedce but this time it crashed just when i took out my torch
Here is what seems to have fixed it for me:
Go into your steam folder and find RustClient.exe and run it as administrator.
It hasn't crashed once on me doing this and it was crashing every few minutes before.
How long have you been playing after the run as admin setting?
i dont feel like leaving my base because of this, once wolf attacked me, and he didnt stand a chance, or so i thought, then bam game crashed, an i was daaamn :( but when i came back i was alive, it seems i managed to hit the wolf enough to kill him, i was lucky that time :)
