In H1Z1 u can find a rare note/letter and it tells you to go to a certain location. Once you find that location (which can be a quest) you put the letter in the crate that it tells you to, and awesome loot spawns.
Since H1Z1 stole air drops from Rust, Rust should steal letter loot quests. (Something similar more specific to Rust) They're fun and gets people to travel to other biomes of the map they might not usually go.
Because planes dropping crates is totally unheard of and was a Rust original idea. H1Z1 didn't steal anything.

calm down
Quests, especially if they resulted in "awesome loot" go against what they are going for with Vanilla/Unmodded Rust. Rust is about outfitting yourself via scavenging the land or other players, not going to arbitrary coordinates until you find loot that winks into existence because a "quest complete" trigger was sprung.
Not to say that a mod that does that would be a bad thing though. It just doesn't suit the base game very well.
Please, just no.
Hell no! This is Rust... Not H1Z1 or DayZ.
I always felt like the point of Rust was the unknown. You wake up on this island with a bunch of people, animals, and items trying to murder you. You know nothing about where you came from or where you are. You have zero communication with the outside world. The only sign that civilization still exists is that plane. Your choice is to adapt or die.
Adding quests of any sort would feel artificial, unless they play into whatever ultimate storyline Rust comes up with. I feel like quests are in the same category as "PKs should turn red after x murders" or "bases should have automatic laser turret defense systems". It just doesn't fit the game.
There's nothing stopping players from running around to far corners of the map if they're so inclined, but Rust has done an excellent job at keeping most of the forced or artificial stuff out.
They aren't so much quests as they are just random keys taking the form of a note. It provides a bit of a 'realism' cover as opposed to loot just magically respawning.
One way that it could be translated to rust is to have some crates in rad zones be locked that can only be opened using a key that is a rare drop from barrels (or maybe a bear who ate it by accident?). You wouldn't know which crate it opens though, so you'd have to try all of the ones that are locked across all the rad areas.

You just made a fucking horrible idea decent and tolerable. Nice!
Rust should do nothing like H1Z1 because H1Z1 (and all other Zombie-related games/shows/movies) is(/are) gay..

Now that I would not only be believable but inticing as well.
+1 on the idea

Finding a key/bunch of keys with the label "Radtown Garage" on them or "Mountain Storage" (which would be a lot more vague/interesting/hard to find) could be fun. I know a some) people are ging to shit on this idea, but I think it has some potential.

Using gay as a pejorative is an indication of having a limited vocabulary. I linked pejorative to the dictionary for you so you can start improving yours.

I know a lot of people with autism sometimes have problems taking meanings from context or social situations. Thankfully, the urban dictionary has you covered. The more you know!

Its still gay to use gay. :p
(Also many times its in person social interaction. Not words on a screen that effects us AS people)

They may have stole airdrops from rust, but they stole this from runescape.( but runescape did it better)
I think the crates that spawn in rad towns are already similar to this, except you don't need a stupid note to get them - you just need balls (or a rad suit and pills).

That last idea COULD work, as long as they were quite rare and some mechanic was introduced to ensure only one or two are in play at any given time (ie, they show in an airdrop, but a new one won't spawn until the old one is used and/or more than x days real time have passed). The idea of finding some reference to "mountain storage" or "buried vault" or whatever is very intriguing.
someone can make a script...

I actually do have a limited vocabulary in English, as it's not my main language.

Well, for me its kinda great, because H1Z1 dev's is not lazy asses, and trying to handle cheaters with their own powers, and not leaving all the work to the anti-cheat that is not working anyway. They have this text on main forum:
We have a new e-mail address for you to report hackers. Send us their name, the server you were on and a screenshot if possible (F12 in Steam). Make sure you do it the moment it happens. That will greatly increase our results.
THIS is the kind of approach that Rust lack a lot - dev's who will take proofs from players, go and ban cheaters manually, making them buy new copy of the game untill they will get tired from that.
And i think that this is the only way how cheaters can be trully beaten in online games.

lesson 1 then, try not to use gay as an insult, it just makes you seem ignorant;)
I know we've deviated from the topic at hand a bit, but I'd like to chime in and say -- we all understood what he was saying, even if some people have an issue with how he said it. A few snarky comments about his choice of words might be funny, but at some point it gets to be a little much.
Besides, this thread is gay anyway. Why bother?

i'm not sure you know this thread well enough to make such a blanket statement about his sexual preferences :P
but i agree, i think we can all move on here.

Nice, not many people know that Runescape is the original of modern zombie/survival games.
GOD... I'm sick of all this stolen sh!t! It's freaking 2015! Show me a idea that has never happened. Then go start your own game.

In the topic, it's okay to make fun of people who are possibly mentally handicapped, though sometimes are actually extremely intelligent with social inhibitions. However, it's not okay to make fun of people for sexual orientation. Next time on Rust forums, it's not okay to make fun of people who like lasagna, but we'll make fun of orphans instead.
What's lasagna? I like cockles but dislike marmite. Lasagne is quite nice but not as nice as moussaka. Quests. No thank you.
UGH rust is CLEARLY a ripoff of NetHack, which was the first game to feature dynamically generated landscapes AND a pickaxe.

Actually, withnail seems to be indicating it's also ok to use gay as a pejorative.
I don't think calling something or someone gay or autistic is ok.
