Domination by first with guns is unbalancing play - not much fun.

Just saw AK equipped guys build a tower under the airdrop at great speed, machine gun all the rest of us and get the loot. The concentration of guns in drops is unbalancing the game. Although people occasionally get guns in rads, all you can usually find is the almost useless pistol in barrel. So the first persons with AK type guns dominated the game. Yes it is survival, but not much fun. I'm deleting the game, might try again in a few months perhaps it might be better balanced? I'll preempt replies - noob, can't compete, its a survival game!..... I'm just saying the lack of balance is making the game not much fun, a shame because I really like many aspects but tire of being head shot at ranges where I can't even see or respond. Cheers, may your dongs fly free and maybe see you in the future.

I've been saying it since the blueprint update... hopefully they make it easier this Friday to obtain blueprints for guns. I've only had my hands on 1 AK since the update, I don't have the time investment to compete for one at the rad town.
I play with a loose group of 4 to 5 people, and 1 of those shares a house with me. We went for an airdrop in a busy area during mid-day and it was insane. I didn't even bother trying to get anything. There like 20 people running spearing and stabbing each other, and off to the side were a small group of 2 or 3 guys with ak's just mowing everybody down. I don't know if they got the drop or not because someone shot me in the back with one of those worthless pistols you mentioned.
I haven't bothered trying to get a drop since then. For now I just go out on hunting trips with a spear and a bow and stalk people I think have guns. Eventually I'll find someone that has one and kill them and take it.
Maybe split the airdrop loot across 3 drops at the same time to dilute the chaos?

Legacy had that, at least on some of the servers I played. There would be 1 to 3 drops.
The night time airdrops are good though, usually less people and you can really sneak up close depending on where it is.
are the drops still fixed at 0,0?

No they are random, but they only drop one. Also since the update i'm having problem seeing the drop. Not sure if its just me though. My roomate will see it but i dont until its about 50%-75% to the ground. draw distance doesn't help
Guns are fine by me, i just don't think full auto guns have a place in rust.. More single bolt guns :p also guns are, if very lucky, to be found in barels. Even though they said the rusty barels are less good... I found the single bolt rifle in it.
But in general loot drops are a massacre and slaughterfest :D it's more profitable to loot the dead ones than going for the drop itself.
May be stop run on drop with spear, craft some bow and shoot from a long range. Now my mate and me have a lot of weapons but when we droped our first ak we killed guys equiped with smg and ak with our bow.
Guys with ak are not invincible ;)
While I think that reducing the availability of guns even more(even in airdrops) would be best, forcing people to compete in the ancient era, I understand some want a more cuthroat environment. Eventually, I think it would be best if admins controlled the rate of all things, including guns. This way, admins can title their server based on the rarity of high tech gear, and people can decide what server best suits their desires.
I just don't like the extreme availability of wood. This allows people to speed build and trap in air drops. In legacy, house parts were actually expensive. In 1-2 days, there are GIGANTIC bases already built up. To build those kind of bases, it would take several days in legacy.

If the airdrop drifted (whether randomly or by way of pseudo-random weather effects, that's for you utilitron) instead of falling straight down, this wouldn't be an issue.
I welcome more guns to Rust considering melee combat is awful in this game
frankly kos is out of control in the first place. just say no to killing nakeds.
