A little benefit for the people who played Rust before the steam release
28 replies, posted
So, Rust was in early access before a lot of time before the steam release, some people got "beta key" (alpha key)
some bought it in a "dutch auction",and some for a stable price
but all those people where interested in rust a lot before the game got released on steam, they helped to find bugs, problems, exploits, compatibility problems and more, so the steam release will be smoother.
but they never got special "regard" for it, so I got an idea, maybe all the players who played before the steam release will get something special?
not something that will change the game-play, something to make them different than other people who bought the game from steam
so I got an idea, why not giving them the item you spawn with (rock), but a little different?, something like:

Yeah sure it's a bad edit I know, it's just an example, this idea came from this picture (I love my rock steam card from "rust art trello"):

So, what do you think about it?, is it good?, not good?, you got another idea?, sure, post it here.
(I guess there will be a lot of "Dumb" voting from people who bought the game after the steam release)

You know what was your benefit?
Early access to the game (testing version of it to be precise).
It's a presale, you could as well buy the finished product in the future.
FFS everyone who paid for and is playing the Alpha is an early supporter of this title and it's ridiculous to say anyone has more or less "regard" for the game simply based on when they started playing it.
Bigger schlong on player model.
YEA I AGREE BUT MAKE IT ANYONE WHO BOUGHT IT BEFORE 2014, BECAUSE ME ME ME!
Could be a good idea but I doubt that will happen:/ I bought mine on Steam but I am all game for giving the early supporters a little something!
Well it don't have to be people who bought it before steam version
maybe everyone before the 1m sellling\0.5m selling or before 2013..idk

All that will do is fuel elitism and drama. Please no.
About 9,000 of the original free alpha keys went to people who stopped playing Rust completely soon after getting it, so this is not a group that deserves special rewards just because they got there first.
It would be neat to see a small cosmetic thing like this, but I doubt it will happen, would be even cooler if they made rocks etched with your username so you could collect the people you've killed.

People have suggested the "player's ear" kind of PVP trophy idea before, but I kind of like the idea of killing a guy and taking his rock and putting it on your trophy wall, alongside all the other rocks you stole from the corpses of naked bald men you murdered.
Welcome to Rust :v:
well not those 9000 people, but before the steam version released for sell
there was like 20k active people

I'm sorry to get off topic but does anyone else see the dark shade figure glaring at the naked man holding his rock. It looks like a shadow but its a slender figure and has what looks like tentacles around it.
Left side of the rock on the picture? Between the trees?
Let's think about the "freedom" quote again.

I bought mine the day it went down transfering to steam does that mean i would get a special rock if they did this?

if you're going to do something like that it makes more sense to me to do it for everyone who contributed during early access, so maybe after the full launch they give all the alpha players something
Bigger schlong on player model.
That would be hilarious. A John Holmes ankle smacker with grass stains on the tip. ... and bonus .. it fends off animal attacks by spinning in a circle.
The fact of the matter that I'm one of a handful of people who maintained his account during Proof Of Concept and got the game for free when it hit Steam is enough recognition for me. Any sort of cosmetic would be like a huge "KILL ME" in game.
I don't think we should get anything in game for it, just something that acknowledges that you have played for a looooong time. It might get people off your back and stop accusing you of hacking a little. (not saying people from back then don't hack, as I know there were a lot back then too) but for the legit players it might help as proof to why they're so good. But even then it's still not really proof that you're not a hacker x)
I bought my game from Steam - and I fully support a cosmetic perk for the pioneers who made it through its early developmental stage.
As for the rest of you who voted dumb (as usual) - sour grapes much? Cosmetics don't even affect you. This heart on the rock doesn't even fucking face you when you get smote with it. Get over it.
Steam has badges. So I'm sure they can do something like what you in steam. Even a special badge for per steam players.

Proof? or did you just pull that number out of your ass?

Vegeta can easily corroborate that the number is impossible.

Some individuals paid three to four times what you did, in order to test Rust during that stage of development.
Sorry, but your jaded way of thinking because you don't want someone to have something that you won't have is born entirely out of selfishness.
Fun little idea.
I think they should make reward rocks for extra special forum posters:

Special rock? I use the rock two times one woodpile and one Ore node, than it's bey bey rock! Out of the bag.
You joined in October 2013, that's not really early. The couple hundred people that are still here from June-ish would be the ones to get anything. However, it's pretty dumb to give them anything because most of the people back then were not helpful at all in testing. Let's say their gift was being able to play early?
I swear the most selfish people on the internet lurk on this forum..
