A couple of minor things that will make life easier in rust

auto run and toggle able crouch. that's all i want gary its just a small change and i am really hoping it gets picked up. you have turn my pinky finger from small nearly useless finger to the strong finger on my hand. (from holding shift and control so much)
Not sure if this is serious, but it's the second time this week I see people complaining about shift to run. I don't understand this, every game I remember playing it was always shift, you guys must have really big keyboards for your pinky to or not properly reach shift, or maybe you're not doing it right? I put my keyboard in an angle position that lines up with my other hand in the mouse (from CS times) and I feel perfectly comfortable with shift.
Below is a picture of myself representing said thing.

How did you reach the conclusion that reaching the key in question was the problem??? Obviously it's the holding down for hours upon hours that is bothering him. And as a someone that plays pretty long stretches I gotta agree, it's pretty tiresome to hold shift for 12 hours straight, even though my hands are very robust. For my gf with her small hands this is a bigger problem, her pinky gets a lot of pain after a while.
nice picture though, your artistic talent is quite apparent.

I play for very long periods as well and it doesnt seem to bother me, maybe I got used to it.
I don't know I like the idea of holding shift. It at least gives me the feeling that I'm doing something. Even games like Borderlands 2 that auto run after pressing shift once I find myself still holding down the button sometimes. Holding my pinky down is a hell of a lot easier than actually running. I also have very flat keys this is probably more of a problem with people that have mechanical keyboards.

That might be it then, my keyboard is slim as well.
I dont see why auto run isnt an option isn't like it hurts anyone
But this was asked for in legacy alot
I used to play on a server where you could set the game to auto-run. It was great not having to hold down shift all day. Some way to quickly toggle it would be great.I don't want to always run, but when you're circling the map on a barrel hunt it can take it's it toll.
Catgut I strongly agree with you toggable sprint/crouch needs to be in the game, but what if I told you the only thing YOU need to do to get easy sprint is to keybind both forward movement and sprint to the same button. They'll both apply and you'll be able to sprint with just one button :D
I use windows accessibility feature with have toggle shift setting. But you have to remember to set it back to normal to use other programs... so an option would be surely nice.
Set key bindings for walk and sprint to the same primary or secondary key and you can auto-run.
If holding down a key is to difficult, I would suggest doing some hand exorcises. :quagmire:
the problem is i have very big hands and keyboards are a pain when it comes to pinky. when i press shift my pink is in a L shape but it slightly turned inward so. so holding that position for long periods of time destroys the second joint in the pink. control is even worse i have to for lack of better word nearly close all the joints except the very first joint from the tip into this half close half open finger destroying shape.
that being said when i was young this was not a problem but i am getting older up in my 30s and gamer hands are starting to set in.
What use is try "hand exercises". Auto-run is not a crazy request, your needs are not everyones. Why clutter up boards with sniping remarks? Anyhow, as I said above, bind walk and run to the same secondary key.
also, autorun makes more sense in a game with massive map spaces. have shift as "walk" so you can be more subtle, ctrl as crouch so you can sneak around, and maybe doubletap to lay prone.

Personally I prefer to run with shift. I don't like to walk with shift simply because i'm not used to that. I play too many games that uses shift as running and therefore I don't like to switch and get used to my controls every time I play Rust or something else. This shift to walk thing is one of the reasons I don't play CS:GO.
Anyway, the solution is pretty simple: There should be extra control options for this so you can choose your preferred play style.
