I just made an account on this forum because I encountered an annoying problem in rust and didn't see any suggestions for how to fix it.
Whenever I join a group of people, or make friends in the game in general, I always end up in fights with them because we couldn't identify each other outside of our little hobo village. While we can all wear a certain type of clothing or armor or whatever, that type of clothing will always be sub-optimal in the different situations in which we need it, like wearing a hazmat suit in a radtown or wearing all urban clothes in the snow. If the game could support the creation of a unique uniform that a player could wear I feel like creating alliances and player interaction in general would be vastly improved. This could be as simple as using dye to recolor a piece of equipment or as complex as painting a symbol on it, but I feel like the game would benefit greatly from it.
TL;DR
Make an option to dye equipment or paint a symbol on them.
Ability to paint on clothes like on signs would be godly. Could draw badges, flags, all sorts of things. And of course cocks too. Hell, it would be even cooler if you could paint on skin for war paint and stuff.
Static signs is one thing, but the textures for skin and clothing is all pre-built. I think dynamic feature changes on moving characters is code prohibitive. At some point it seems there will be a rich variety of clothing options available in the [del]P2W[/del]... P2A (Pay-To-Accessorize) marketplace. Who knows, maybe premium custom designs will go on sale.

it's on devblog 58
I've mentioned something similar before about the ability to see your steam friends IDs from a long way off, maybe in green or something. Save me having to be in kissing distance only to find out they want me to kiss them... in a bad way

Actually the paint on signs is just a png texture applied. You can do the same for any mesh as long as the UVs are okay. Problems might arise in performance if there's too much painted everything. But the actual paint on anything is not an issue.
