• Why isn't Cheatpunch mandatory?

I'm curious, and I might not be understanding how it works, but... It seems a lot of servers don't run with it yet, and hackers who get banned by Cheatpunch can still go on non-Cheatpunch servers and... well, keep hacking. It's the second time now that my friends' base gets harassed by a hacker; the first, flying and using an aimbot, the second, flying to the exact location of our crates, stealing everything and then flying off. Checking both of their steam IDs I notice they are in fact Cheatpunch banned, but not VAC banned. We tried to rattle the admin into enabling Cheatpunch but there's command errors in there and it won't let him, which is a shame because it's a good server otherwise with a fair amount of people. So I find it a bit weird that Cheatpunch hasn't been enabled on all servers by default. Now that we know it works and doesn't give false positives, would there be any harm in denying hackers the game except on servers where it is explicitely turned off?
Cheatpunch is optional for now; it hasn't been publicly running for two weeks yet. I'm fairly sure that garry said he intends on making it mandatory in the future, but for now, he's playing it safe and making it optional for server owners. If you've got a modded server, the mods need to be updated to be compatible with Cheatpunch, otherwise the server won't start properly because of the incompatibilities.
most servers you will actually find it is actually already running. To check to see when you were last checked for cheats by cheatpunch. 1. Go to your start menu and type run 2. Open run and type in %TEMP% and press enter. It should open your TEMP folder, find a file called "rscr.tmp" open it with Windows Photo Viewer or any other image editor or viewer, and you should see a screenshot of your game which cheatpunch has captured.
