I've been playing the game for a few days now. I originally tried some of the official servers but kept dying randomly from "suicide" on a constant basis. I was told the community servers were better because they have active admins. So I went to some community servers. When I finally found a decent one, I spent a couple of days on it working very hard. I had a 10 story tower with tons of metal doors. I was fully decked out. I had tons of giant crates full of stacks of stuff. I leave to do my normal gathering rounds and randomly die. I don't respawn at my house. When I finally get back to my house, everything is still in tact and no metal door has been broken but all of my good stuff is missing. All of my work was destroyed through illegit means.

To answer your question, yes. There are dozens of servers that have great admins who keep the place safe and fun. A few people sneak in every now and then but this is the Alpha version. It's not going to be perfect. My friends and I spent a long while fortifying our compound. Then the server glitched, nakeds ran over our spiked walls and found their way in. It sucked but we moved on and now we're doing just fine in a separate server. You will have to constantly build, destroy, die and rebuild unless you group up with a bunch of other guys.
