Any Legacy veterans? - Rust

Before you go on bragging about having played legacy, I didn't mean "veterans from legacy" - I meant "Veterans by legacy STANDARDS" I've had rust since the early days of the Dutch Auction (Back when the cheapest you could afford was 40$ before keys ran out), and I've noticed that even though there were plenty of players back then, it's been quite a while since I've seen anyone who even remembered what the dutch auction was. Who else here was from around that time? When I first joined it was a while after Gary stopped giving free keys to anyone who asked kindly, but I doubt any of those people even remain on rust (Considering in the past you lost your key if you were inactive for too long and all...) How did you find out about rust, during what period did you purchase it, and if during the dutch auction, for how much? Also, was it during the second phase of the rust auction (Where the auction reset every hour instead of every day)? Personally, I was discussing with my friend how awesome it would be if there was a DayZ standalone - and there we go, he gave me a link to rust. At first I was bummed that you couldn't purchase it, but when the dutch auction came out I was really excited. I studied the auction for a week seeing how low prices got before selling out, and after a week, I managed to get a hand on a key for a *RELATIVELY* low price. It was still pretty damned expensive. After that, I was disappointed that it wasn't going to be a standalone anymore, but I had already gotten hooked to rust. And thus my long journey begins.

Im from the older days even before dutch auction, the days when it was keys that mattered, the early days when they went from open alpha to closed alpha. where the game was in a shitty webbrowser but still ran good. tbh those were the funniest days. i got a key from a streamers giveaway! :) still play to this day Edit: I actually got my key from stealing a guys picture in the drawing contest. I had just discovered the creatures and uberhaxornova, and I saw a new series he had called rust. I clicked it and there he was with a flare, and I thought, this game looks broken. So I watched it some more, and it looked like great fun. They made a little home with a fire by the house complaining to each other that they could shoot through the cracks (back then it didn't snap edges together. It was amazing. I had never seen anything like it. It also had this special vibe to it that other things didn't. I can only describe it as a rusty vibe. They also argued over the ownership on the doors (they didn't have pass codes back then). I thought it was so cool. I looked in the description about where I could find this game. It told me to go to the site and there was something called a devblog. And there garry was talking shit about himself, and telling users what they had done for the week. It was so community friendly, almost like the way valve does business. I had never heard of a dutch auction before and I was like, ¨2 dollars? A STEAL!¨. It's ironic that I saw this in the suggestions on youtube for the game, Garry's mod. I found out and thought, ¨wow¨. I've been following it since the old days. Every week since 2013. It's lucky I had a Microsoft class that year so I could read it every week. I have enjoyed rust and will for years to come. Too bad my computer runs it at 5 fps when I look up and 25 fps when I stare at the ground on legacy. I need a new potato. I also bought it about a year ago from steam. I thought, hey how convenient, it's on steam. That's where I bought it from. That's all I could get it from because I don't have a credit card and can't get money on paypal. I went to walmart and bought a gift card and have done this several times. I wish I had a better computer. I really do. I just need 1,000 dollars and I could get one.
