Me and my friends got Rust a few days back, and we've all joined together to build a huge fort. We got plenty of resources, but since we play on an empty server, we feel our weapons are a waste. For those of us who prefer PvE and cooperation, I'd like some kind of threat to protect against, much like in 7 Days to Die or The Forest. Both of those are good games, but I really enjoy everything else about Rust already.
Been loving Rust so far though! 27 hours in 3 days!
well... easy fix - don't play on an empty server lol!
I'm very much like you and enjoy the cooperation of clan/team play but you also need the threat of it being taken away or getting killed on your doorstep full from a stone run to make the game truly fun!
i'd recommend to stay away from official servers as (as of last month anyway) they are full of hackers. try to find a well admin'd community server. Rustopia is amazing, the admins are very professional and always on

I suppose that is an easy fix! I'd still love PvE to be an option though.
And yes, I made the mistake of joining an official server when I first got Rust.
Well there is TALK of having something like a guardian on the dev blog, but that's just speculation atm.
Yea I was on London 1 for months with no problems until the last wipe when a wave of hacks came in and made the game unplayable. Seriously, take Rustopia |EU/UK| a whirl, they are voting on a bp wipe too this coming forced wipe, makes it ideal for newcomers
I hope the Guardian does get added, all the concept art I've seen has been great. And I love well done PvE, it can really add to a game. People are more likely to form friendships in the heat of battle. How many Rust videos have you seen where a guy says "Help me kill this wolf" and they make friends after. The bigger the PvE threat, the more liekly people are to put aside their differences to work together. "Hey, that guy who lives across from me is an asshole, but if we both don't start shooting at this thing we'll both lose our base." That kind of thinking.
I know rad bears were unrealistic in that they dropped good loot, but that's what made them fun to farm. Barrels just aren't the same.
I hope bigass radtowns will be added for sake of a tense, pvp, and pve at once gameplay. Its not that fun walking hours in the wild finding nothing.
