I think the durability on the starting rock should be increased quite abit, in particular in regards to ore piles.
Or we should be able to pick up a new one from the beach.
Or fighting with fists would be cool
I think that rock should not have a durability,
due to that rock should damage only twig stuff.
I think they were already working on picking up rocks from the beaches and such.
Yes, starting rock Durability should be increased to at least twice what it is, and so should most tools. Even the stone hatchet's durability dies after extracting just enough to make another one. They all need to be rebalanced.

They need to either make the stone hatchet more efficient at extracting stone/ores or they need to come up with some alternative to gather stone/ore that doesn't require a pickaxe. My friend and I spent over 15 hours each of our weekend on the dev server just running around the entire map breaking barrels and searching rad towns trying to find a blue print for a pick axe and we finally found one for an ice pick late last night. By the end of it we had sleeping bags strategically placed in bushes throughout the entire map so we can spawn at different rad towns and search them. We had realized after building our first home and losing it to a legitimate raid that there was no point in building a wood house if you can't upgrade it to stone. Well you can't gather stone efficiently if you don't have a pick axe. The blue print for it seems to be pretty rare. I found a C4 blue print and i still have yet to find a pick axe BP (my friend found the ice pick BP)
If rocks were infinite, they would just be used for AFK raiding. The fact that rock has durability now has caught me out a couple of times at first, but now I just always make sure I plan ahead. It's workable.
Since rocks have durability I think it's pertinent that they let us find rocks on the ground that we can loot so that if we break ours before we get a hatchet we aren't totally fucked.
When I tried the dev-build last week I broke my rock before I got anything else. At first I thought it was stupid, but then had fun trying to find another tool. Since I had made a spear first I was able to kill a naked on the beach and steal his rock.
I like it, but definitely agree that you should be able to find rocks here or there to replace it.
I'm sure one of the plugin developers will come out with a durability plugin either today or tomorrow. Of course that doesn't help servers that want to be pure.
yea a lot of players on my server used their rock up fast and then couldn't do anything else -- kind of an issue unless they can find a new rock.

Currently Garry is refactoring the item system. Expect some plugin after that update comes out.
i'd just have a context use function to grab a rock from any stone node:)
I'm not against durability of the initial rock, but as it is, it wears out way too fast. Unless you luck into a better tool for harvesting rock nodes, you're going to have a difficult time. The stone hatchet is useless for rocks.
Either the rock durability needs to increase (maybe double) or there needs to be some way to get another one other than just dying or killing a sleeping naked on the beach.
