• Reporting Hackers = Useless

Ok, how am I supposed to report someone when I type the name in Steam Community and 20+ pages come up with that name? There is no console command or anything I can find to identify the user specifically or differentiate them from hundreds more with the same name on steam. Anyone else finding this to be the case? I understand "Alpha" and all but it feels like this should be a top priority (yeah, I read that it is but...) Facepunch, if you really are concerned about cheating please do something to enable easier reporting. I can deal with the occasional cheater and even server wipes but spending a couple hours getting wood only to have some hacker kill you and take it all when you are crafting in a safe place is a bit frustrating. That is exactly what their objective is and I hate to see them ruin this awesome game for so many others.
When in the overlay, click "view players" and all the people on the server should show up (if you're online) You can click their profile and report them. You can also view who you recently played with from your friends page and find them that way.

vac doesn't ban based on reports. report only works to advertise the admins of the server you play.
Join UK5 (Stress Free) and your hacker problems will be a thing of the past
btw regarding to your thread title you are right!
Important: All VAC bans are permanent - Valve has a zero-tolerance policy for cheating and will not lift VAC bans under any circumstances. What is VAC? If a user connects to a VAC-Secured server from a computer with identifiable cheats installed, the VAC system will ban the user from playing on VAC-Secured servers in the future. While server admins may choose to ban specific players, server admins cannot VAC ban players. The VAC system is automated - contacting Steam Support to report cheaters is not necessary, nor will Steam Support act on any information provided. The VAC system reliably detects cheats using their cheat signatures. Any third-party modification to a game designed to give one player an advantage over another is classified as a cheat or hack and will trigger a VAC ban. This includes modifications to a game's core executable files and dynamic link libraries.

Note: VAC does not ban based on reports. Such data is only used for tracking and statistics purposes.
I expected this to be a PSA about how VAC is a fully automated system and reporting players does nothing. that was silly of me!
