I had to make a trailer to go on the Steam page. It took me a long time. Here it is. [vid]http://cdn.playrust.com/movies/FirstDay_60_low.mp4[/vid] The idea with the trailer wasn't to show a story, or convey a mood. It was to introduce what you will be doing in a light hearted way - which will hopefully stand out when compared to all the other survival games, and make Rust more accessible.
The game looks amazing. I haven't played it in god knows how long
Love the trailer. It doesn't make you feel all moody and stuff ( As you already stated ) A simple yet awesome idea. <3 it Edit: The music almost makes the game look comical :D
Oh my god! The gameplay is so smooth! how can you play so smooth garry? and the trailer is awesome!
Nice one! Awesome) We were pleased to see us in the trailer! Thank you =)
Yeah, the game shows very very smoothly ... I guess there is a serious problem with the optimization as my rig is no near obsolete (i7 920, 8gb, HD7970) and can't get near that softness ... but can probably be related to the monitor. Was that recorded under 120 hz?
Ey Garry. I picked this game up when you had it in open Alpha, sad you deleted some old accounts, but what can you do. Anyway, I figure I'll pick this up, not only if to support you.
great stuff, but the bit at the end feels a little out of place - feels like it could have had a funny ending that would have fit better
Sorry, but at around 6 seconds in, you can see the removed faces.
Love Rust but the video doesn't fit. Rust is supposed to be an unforgiving survival game, but the video makes it feel like a game for a younger playerbase The video will attract many care bears and kiddies- which isn't necessarily a bad thing for bandits like me- but I can only imaging the increase of complaints and whining on the forums. The video itself is solid and well built, but the mood and information it portrays is very poor imo- in relative to Rust itself. Sorry- tried to keep feedback constructive as possible, thanks for the great game though.
I appreciate what you're saying, it's a conversation we had internally. But you're not meant to sell to people who have already bought. The point is to reach a larger audience than just people that are interested in zombie survival games - to bring them over to our side.
To the dark side :yarr:
I think I was one of the first people to play this, looks like it has improved a lot. My account got deleted though.
What is the song?
Looks great. On a side note, if you pause the video, you can see motion blur. Now why can't that be in-game? ;-;
Make friends...[wait]...make enemies
I don't know the average age of PC gamers- but I suspect its anywhere between 20-30. But the trailer seems to be aimed at the younger playerbase. If that's the market the team are aiming for, then who am I to argue. Rust just feels like a straight up 18+ horror survival game to me and it always has- since early alpha. The video is very nicely edited, but does it really run parallel with rust's themes? Rust separates itself from other boring survival games through the psychological impact of fearing other players and protecting your few assets. I remember the pitch black nights hiding in a tiny hut, trying not to move for fear raiders might hear me. Video editing takes a long time- especially for a properly edited trailer like the above. I really hope rust does really well on launch, [B]but the trailer isn't the game[/B]. You guys should grab a few beers and have a launch night party or something for when it goes on to steam, you deserve it.

Bleh at the horizontal wipes for transitions. Other than that it works I guess, doesn't really fit the game in my opinion, and while I know you did that intentionally I'm not sure I understand or agree with your rationale for it. At any rate, congrats on developing another highly successful game.
What is the name of the song used the in the trailer? I absolutely adore it!

You are running the game full resolution, top graphics and even though you are recording you still have the game smoother than any other footage i have seen. Could you please give us the secret recipe of specs that your computer has??
Looking pretty fancy, haven't played since the art contest, but that was primarily due to not being able to re-bind keys at all. Problem being a lefty and all, which I hope hasn't been an issue for others who bought keys over time. Has a keybind menu been added yet?

One, he's not using Youtube. Youtube will re-encode videos uploaded to it, and always makes them 30FPS regardless of the source format. In that regard, he's probably actually able to play back video at the original 60FPS, causing it to look smoother. Additionally, if you pause the video, you can see motion blur. The motion blur helps connect the frames and convey a sense of motion - this is why movies running at 24FPS look smooth even though games running at 24FPS would look horribly stuttery.
Yeah, too bad you deleted people's accounts who were inactive for a month without warning (I think), oh well, there are better alternatives on the way.

So i bound it back to 't' so you can probably change other bindings as well.
