Should building in a, "cave," be bannable? - Rust

I built a house in an area where some rocks overlapped, closing off the top and most of the sides. I blocked one of the two open sides with foundations, and the other side with 2 doors. One day I see like 5 kev guys in surrounding my house, so i suicide to my sleeping bag to grab my gear (just got back from a dry run.) I get in, and there's a naked IN my house, but their torso is like half stuck in one of the rocks that form the cave. I quickly grab my shotty and kill him. 3 seconds later the admin TP's in to my house and kills me with the uber hatchet. I try to explain that there's a natural cave there, tell the admin to clear all the housing stuff to prove it, but instead he/she bans me. Should hidden places like this that are tough (but not fucking impossible) to raid be bannable? It would've taken 4 c4 to raid me, but i was hidden so i didn't get raided. Admin accused me of building inside a rock, but i was in a space between two rocks. This is half opinion request/half I'm fucking pissed off rant because all my progress is gone and I can't appeal my ban to the admin who's gonna see that they were wrong to ban me when they clear out my housing there because they won't accept my request on steam so i can message them. Point being; Should you get banned for building in spaces between rocks, or pseudo caves?

Nah, I think that's legit. I mean, it's a part of the map... why shouldn't you be able to build there?

It's a hidden spot, but on the map, not inside a rock, not floating out at sea, nothing disingenuous. Super lame that I can't appeal my ban though. Guess I get to start fresh. Woohoo.

Pretty much all I can do. At least I can say this is my first instance of serious admin abuse. That's a pretty good streak, considering I started in January.

There's not one reason that should be bannable. Bad admin decision is all. If you're looking for a nice natural cave to build in, check the rocks on the right side of the road when walking from French Valley towards Big Rad. They're the rocks that are very close to the road on both sides. This cave is very well hidden. You can only set one foundation, but all you need are two pillars and a doorway. No need for walls and there is a good amount of room in it as the inside of the cave is wider than the foundation.

Yeah, sounds like the admin was influenced by his whiny raider buddies. As has been said, best to play on a new server.

thats a normal spot :/ shitty admins. on my server I happen to be friends with the admins and they wouldnt ban for this. say I would be pissed and say it was abuse cuz it looked like it at first, they would come and go inside the rock and check it out and tell me: nope, its legal, you cna easily get inside.

Thanks for the input guys. Fun update! Someone from the server I got kicked from followed me to the new server I'm playing on (I checked with the admin before building to make sure building between rocks was cool, he gave the go ahead) and tattled on me to the admin. The admin tp'd to me just as the tattler came to my front door saying that I'd get banned for building here just like I did on the last server. The admin, again, told me it was fine. How awesome are people? :rolleyes:

That admin was a genuine retard. Please list the server name / IP so I can avoid it.

Sounds to me in all honesty that the group that found your base had to have ESP. They also from your story used some form of the sleeping bag exploits to get into your base. They are a real piece of work. You should never be banned for using the map to your advantage like that. They should however be banned from that server and possibly rust in general.

See I could understand it being an issue if I closed off the whole thing with high foundations and had to use the sleeping bag suicide thing to even get in, but I didn't. There were 2 metal doors blocking my loot from them, it's an easy build to raid, just hidden from plain view between some rocks. Like their logic is, "your base is hidden so it might be hard for some raiders to find, so you can't build there. You have to build in a spot that's more out in the open so raiders can find you easier." Because that's totally going with the theme of player freedom, amiright?

im guessing he thought you glitched through the rock to get into your base? that's the only way i can see him thinking about banning you, he's still a complete retard

Just sounds like bad admins. Of course you should be able to build however you want with the exception of glitching through rocks with sleeping bags etc. There are numerous popular cave spots that people build in the early game for the very reason you mentioned - difficulty to raid early on.

in fact I think building between rocks is pretty much essential as it saves you TONS of wood/metal you'd else need vs pillars.

If its possible to gain entry into a base without cheating or glitching then it should be fine.
