In watching numerous videos on raids I notice a significant amount of bases have several built in delaying mechanisms mostly revolving around towers and fortifications at the bottom of them, i.e. armor, traps, terrain, etc. What I find interesting is not too many of these bases have ways to exploit these delay tactics other than tower shooters. Whether or not the raid was successful or not really does not seem to change that most raids at least have a breach of the main compound. I wonder why some of the large clan do not employ more designs to better exploit the delay that's created and instead just rely on tower shooters. For instance there does not seem to be many mechanisms employed by base designers to to counter-attack or flank raiders while they are trying to penetrate the base which incidentally is when they are most vulnerable. In fact, tower shooters are least effective when raider are at the base of the tower/base.
Maybe they wait till the raiders breach inside, where it is much easier to kill them?
There has been one instance where the defenders went out and shot the attackers on ground, but i too had similar thoughts as you, i would've built smaller places else where away from the main base or hidden sleeping bags in bushes and storage caches so that i could spawn there and flank the attackers.
