ye, it might disencourage newmans to actually start progressing, but if rust devs tweak the melee mechanics so you can charge while attacking but not while you raise the rock to bash the other dude would give the legacy veterans a glimpse of the good ol' days, and maybe melee fights with anything besides spears would be less akward (two guys walking and swinging at eachother, until they give up and stop toddling backwards)
