OK This is kind a brutal but it should be censored or locked somehow for underage that plays RUST. We need Females in the game. Either players that plays Female or build own female to have fun with. Ye i know it sounds stupid or whatever but i think game would be more funnier with some pussies and not just bunch of penises. Hahahhahah i know its shit thread but anyway what do you think guys?
...We need Females in the game...
Hmm that is up for debate. "Want" would be more appropriate. Adding female models in this early may upset the content rating on Steam. Honestly, I dont know if I have played a session of Rust yet without someone or myself "head-bobbing near a friend while kneeling" Its like a peace treaty. Female models will turn it from a funny joke to a softcore porno. It may increase the sales significantly though :) Edit: typos
Hahahahahha. We dont need sex but females maybe only.

Video games do not belong to a 'gender'. (IMO) they should be added along with full player customization for both genders. Lest stop this bullshit about adding in naked females to the game is any worse than adding the male.
Female models and customization have been confirmed for months, they're just not a high priority at this stage. And once again the thread can't help but go creepy places almost immediately, as usual.
As long as the females have penises I'm cool with it.
Hahahhaha frank_walls
I'm a female gamer and really do not mind playing Males in games. There are a few MMOs where I decided to play Males so people didn't find out I am Female. It has done wonders for me being able to enjoy the games I like to play without getting harrassed. It's really kinda sad how some people act when they find out there is a real woman behind the avatars. Anyway...I might be getting Rust to try it out. It looks like a good game. Just a matter of choosing a server to play on. Maybe I'll make some friends ingame. :)

It's already weird enough there are no buttholes in the character models... adding female models will make things get weird real fast. I suppose its weird already and that's part of what I love about it.
Hope we can pixel rape them so feminist movement finally have something to whine about. (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - SteveUK))
why don't we get rid of the male character and just have a female character.
I hope Garry adds a female model just to shut these stupid threads down for good. I also hope that when he does he draws inspiration from the Helga character in "load out" so the teenage perverts trying to make rust into a porno at least have a bit of a challenge.
why don't we get rid of the male character and just have a female character.
That's sexist!
Omg OP you're a genius! Nobody has EVER thought about females in Rust EVER! Give this man a job!
I think it would be a detriment to add female avatars. I can already hear and see all the harassment from the young kids and lowlifes who think it is cool to say they raped someone. I can hear and see the harassment of a female character, and the chat filled with A/S/L? Etc. Folks trying to pick up someone over the Internet because he/she/it is using a female avatar. Let's face it, the server populations aren't the highest caliber of human. I am not saying there aren't some incredibly decent folks playing, but the number of lowlife trolls and 12 year old gangster wannabe's seem to outnumber decent folks currently. All the folks on a server need to do is hear a female voice or see a feminine name to start drooling and trying to hook up over the web. This would exacerbate that x10, to the point of ruining gameplay. "Rust Tinder Simulator 2015" I also don't want to hear/see these same quality individuals trolling the whole "Rape Simulator 2015" line, or exhibiting the "shock me shock me" behavior for attention that is rampant currently. It would also piss me off greatly to watch all the abusive little boys/men who start saying they raped a female and trying to describe what their sick little minds imagined before they killed her, or threatening that type of sick violence. Already if a person reveals they are female they get continually hounded and harassed. I am not sexist, the things I describe above are sick and have no place among real men, but I am a realist, and know it will happen. I know it will hurt the game and people will leave it (me included) due to the behavior of the types that will perpetrate this garbage.

Girls who couldn't handle that type of harassment wouldn't be playing Rust in the first place.
You are missing the point entirely. Whether or not they can 'handle' it is not the issue. They should not be in a situation where they need to be tough and handle it. Having female avatars in game will create a hate environment for them due to the actions of those who think it will win them points and attention by using the most vile behavior and actions possible. They should be able to play Rust without being put in a situation where they need to 'handle it'.

I also think that that offensive type of behavior will be a rare isolated case in which anyone caught publicly doing it will become enemies of the server. These offending players will soon realize that doing such offensive behavior is exactly like raiding, if you get caught doing it you will be shot. Humans can be vile creatures, but to recognize good within humans we need a contrast, and that is what these vile creatures provide. If there was no vileness there would be no Raiding, instead it would be called Donating, were we break into our neighbors houses and donate nice things to help them out, then get away without them knowing who the Good Samaritan was that provided such nice things.

You're taking away a womens right to have their own character avatar based on their gender just to 'protect them'. Every game has asshole misogynists, Rust is no different and shouldn't be treated different. Women deserve the right to pick a female avatar if they want. It's not their fault people may react a certain way to that so there is no reason to take that freedom from them for the sake of preventing something not necessarily preventable in the first place. You can't create a system to prevent harassment in an open world game where players interact, you can only create a system to punish it. The idea that you even COULD create some utopia where women who are known to be women won't get harassed is kind of ludicrous, as sad as that is to say. Plus there's plenty of servers out there with a mostly respectful and mature audience who won't do the things youre worried about, and female gamers can just as easily find one of those servers. If they aren't willing to handle it, then they can just pick the male character, best situation possible without letting the barking vile trolls guiding your actions, because then nobody wins.
there should be equal representation, regardless of the likely behavior related to female avatars. as long as there is nothing like sex simulation, babies etc there is little that can actually be done to a player with a female avatar that cannot be done to a male avatar. the other thing is that having a choice doesn't mean that females have to use the female avatar, it simply gives players of either gender the option. personally, i would play as a female because the kind of trolls that harass women would be easily distracted by a set of tits and it would give me an advantage XD
You are missing the point entirely. Whether or not they can 'handle' it is not the issue. They should not be in a situation where they need to be tough and handle it.
Oh give me a break. If they don't like the asshole community, they don't have to play. If there's one game I thought I could count on not being invaded by all those "safespace" idiots, I thought it would be Rust. People being assholes or not is emergent gameplay. It seems the only time I ever seem to notice someone is female is because they have to go "OMG I'M A GIRL ^-^", and these are the sort of people who will cry over KoSing or whatever. There's planty of cool female gamers, and most of them you don't even know they are female, because it just isn't relevant. I bet those type of girls would hate the idea of being censored to pander to a few overly sensitive people's feelings. I hear emotes are being added in soon. Wave, surrender, growl, that sort of thing. I expect the growl one will be used to simulate buttsex probably. If you don't like that, go play on an empty server.
Let's face it, the server populations aren't the highest caliber of human.
Here, here! Well put, y0himba...
Video games, sexism, misogyny, and you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexism_in_video_gaming Lets get a few things straight. First off, we don't need female avatars. However, allowing personal choice diversifies the game. There are definite, unavoidable, pitfalls associated with adding a female character to the game, let alone a nude one. I find the notion appalling that a person just needs to be "tough enough" to endure harassment of any kind. This type of harassment wouldn't be limited to females playing female characters. It has nothing to do with one's ability to "handle" harassment. Women do not have a "right" to pick a female character. People may be granted the option, but it is in no way a right. However people do have the "right" to be treated fairly and not be harassed and objectified. They have the right to play a game and not have to leave because of other player's behaviors. Putting the blame on a player not not being willing to endure these types of behaviors is worse than the behavior it's self. I also find it extremely naive to think that this sort of behavior would be in any way "rare" or isolated. So, instead of speculating, lets look at the actual data. A survey showed 63% of female and 16% of male players reported having experienced when playing video games in 2012.
“Cunt,” “bitch,” “slut,” and “whore” were common slurs. The threats were largely of sexual assault. Much of the harassment was based around asking for or demanding sexual favors or comments that revolved around the traditional gender role and stereotyped behavior for women in Western society. Many of the insults were based on the subject's weight or physical appearance. - See more at: http://blog.pricecharting.com/2012/09/emilyami-sexism-in-video-games-study.html#sthash.Gx5xGwVz.dpuf
19.5% of the women of this survey said the harassment followed them out of game. 19.4% of women said they no longer felt safe. 67.5% of women said that they had obscured their sex to avoid harassment. 35.8% of women reported having quit playing temporarily, and 9.6% reported that they quit playing permanently because of harassment. http://theevolvedgamer.com/scientific-proof-that-gamers-are-ridiculously-sexist/
n short, the authors found something appaling. The female voice received 3 times the negative comments than the male voice, often being called a ‘slut’ or ‘whore’. The female voice also received only 3/4 of the positive comments of the male voice. Even worse, the female voice received significantly more queries and friend requests.
http://www.psmag.com/books-and-culture/halo-3-gamers-are-often-sexist-too-61564
Hostile reactions to the female player were frequent; the phrase “hi everybody” alone sparked reactions ranging from “shut up you whore” to “so whatever that voice was, are you a hooker or are you a dude?” When the female wasn’t receiving derogatory gendered language, it was asked out.
My biggest fear in this whole situation is the potential for stalking, and harassment out of game.
If I took a survey every time I got called a cunt in game, those stats might not look so skewed.
Give the female character a Marilyn Manson suit.
Yes you are :suicide:
That's a lot of work for aesthetics. I'm sure females will be added in but way down the line. Think about it, how many new models, animations and sounds will be required just to get them into the game. The game isn't nearly finished and there are more important things to focus on, but I really hope they will come.
My biggest fear in this whole situation.
Sensitively put, well done. However, this is the gaming community you are referencing. I don't speak much due to the slander. It is better that people heed the stats and play anonymously. The low number of females probably speaks more to maturity and responsibility. How to end war... Restrict the appointment of war Generals to mothers only :)
We have an actual female in our group that plays Rust, and I am sure there are quite a few others out there. Seems unfair to them that they are forced to play male characters. I am guessing though, that a number of the people requesting female characters are males.
