So it would be a pretty good addition if Rust had some sort of groups system in game. Like tribes, it fits the style of Rust. You would be able to have a way to add people to your tribes, and there would be a way to know who all is in your tribe, instead of guessing and accidentally killing one of your tribe members. They could have a colored dot or outline on them to indicate they are a part of your tribe, such as green. Also you have ranks in the tribe, such as: Chief - Creator, and Highest Rank -- Can delete the tribe, edit the tribes name and description, accept invites to the tribe, kick people from the tribe, demote or set ranks War Chief - Co-Owner, second in command -- Accept invites, kick people, demote or set ranks Elders - Sort of like moderators for a tribe -- Accept invites Tribesman - The normal members -- has no special roles In the tribes you could be able to set certain doors or chests to 'Tribal Public' so that only members of the tribe can get in them but not any other doors or chests So since you would have your tribe, there would obviously be other tribes out there, so since that is so, you could ask other tribes to make you allies, which you would then be friends with, which would have a dot or outline of blue. But as well you could make other tribes your enemies by declaring them an enemy to your tribe, they wouldn't know you made them an enemy so you can be sneaky about it. The enemy tribes would have a dot or outline in red. Green - Tribe Members Blue - Allied Tribes Red - Enemy Tribes It would be a great addition to the game, adding some sort of class system and a way of recognizing people.
Many a time I have killed my friends however I have to disagree on the outlines and being able to see who it is. That is half the fun of the game! =D I Agree with the tribes and stuff and maybe territorial if pushing for this ideas but not the outline bit!
I don't know where the quote is but garry has said that this kind of party system will not be implemented. Of course that could change, I suppose... I think it's going to head more in a customization direction. From what I gather we'll be able to make the characters more discernible and unique allowing us to make groups on our own without a menu to do it for us. [editline]19th February 2014[/editline] This also allows for tricking people... if a certain village has a "uniform" of sorts then you could put those clothes on and sneak in or something... That'd be cool, I think.
Nah, I think that highlighting players is a bad idea - part of the fun is figuring out if you are about to shoot your friend, and then proceeding to shoot your friend. Also the friendly tribe and enemy tribe would take away from the whole 'is he friendly' aspect of the game. It's a great idea, but I don't see it fitting well into the rust world. Also, if you want shared doors, there's always the passcode feature, and you can do a skype call with your friends if you really want to.
I think rust wants you to decide what the player will do to organise a group/ tribe. No fancy UIs and such just the thought if us human beings being able to confirm who we are and how we treat each other. Also i think they are going to implement an ability to be able to change faces and skin colour later on. Maybe that could help with confusion.
easy way of finding out is setting up a password which is valid for some time. so if someone tries to enter your base, you just ask for the word of the day. Assuming its a big group and you dont use TS
