Found a fix for freezing/lag spikes while using a Realtek audio card

I found out a fix that works for me, im running the game on my gaming laptop with a GTX 670M and a Realtek audio card. The audio card was the thing giving me freezes/lag spikes. The freezes and stutters happened every 10-20 seconds or so. The thing that worked for me was to simply plug in a USB headset into my pc (I made the audio still play out of pc speakers) and for some reason that fixed the freezing for me. So now when I play I just plug in the usb headset before starting up Rust and it works fine now
Same issue as this ?

If thats the case - then it doesnt work for me at all, since I already use a USB headset (Logitech G930).
Cant really see how an audio device would affect the game like that though - but hey - its still Alpha..
If that works for you; then great :)
It seems the game is giving stutters for some people due to their Realtek audio. Disabling the audio card stops the freezing but you don't get any sound. So I enabled the realtek audio and plugged in a usb headset and the game works fine now. As I mentioned above I still use my laptop speakers for my game audio so give that a shot. I also disabled the nvidia audio and one other i had so just make sure you only have 1 audio playback device enabled (the realtek one)
Go to device manager, scroll down to the tab that says "Sound, Video, And Game Controllers" then right click Realtek High Definition Audio, and finally restart your computer.
If you're still having that problem, try downgrading your sound-card . Bring it to the previous version. I have had that problem too.
