• Leave buidling "ownership" as is

Please don't change the ownerhip of houses away from their current state. If someone gets their doors blown off, conquerors taking ownership should be a real thing. If someone is trying to construct their base, and someone comes and places a column in the middle, well this would encourage players to bring defenders to construction, otherwise if you're solo this just part of growing pains. Bring all construction materials in one move. Plan better. But pleaes leave this part of the game the way it is.
Mmmmmm I kind of agree, but since I don't think any of us know exactly how the ownership mechanic will work I think we should just trust the devs. The trello leads me to believe that it's really going to be more of a short window when you can pick up a building piece that you just placed.
I would suggest that perhaps the "owner" is tied to the door on a foundation, so if you own the door that's connected to a foundation, you can then edit the other attached pieces.
I like the idea of a mercy rule on objects you place, but that's about it. If someone runs up and takes your foundation, then you lose it. Fight, or die.
I like the idea of a mercy rule on objects you place, but that's about it. If someone runs up and takes your foundation, then you lose it. Fight, or die.
I think that the game should maximize emergent behavior: 1) Building fuck-off big towers and awesome buildings should be encouraged by the system as that is one of the best aspects of Rust. Someone running by, using 1 c4, and permanently ruining your entire structure because of ceiling off a stairwell should not happen. The current game renders building elaborate structures pointless because of the minimal cost to ruin them. 2) Misplacing a pillar or ceiling should not ruin your entire base as you are building it -- the game is glitchy enough as is! 3) If someone blows off your doors and replaces them with their own to take over your building, then tough luck they used the c4 and it should be theirs now, or the section they took over should be theirs until you evict them. Same goes for if you just start building your house and someone runs by, kills you, and takes it over. 4) Building creative raiding structures to get around defenses should also be allowed to happen. 'Building ownership' should foster and encourage emergent behavior. The current situation is not great, and neither would a situation be where no one but you can build on your foundation or you can remove anything with the touch of a button or something silly like that.
Ownership has to happen for many various reasons. That being said there should be some way for someone to forcefully take over ownership as well. As to how that would work I have no idea.
They made it simple and what that means is you will get to instantly remove what you have just placed on a timer. That means its doesn't matter what you own and I am pretty certain if will have no impact with encouraging actual farming and building.
