• Mind blown, my in-game friend got VAC BANNED

A guy i once knew as a noob, completely legit (seeming) player who could never get on his feet in this game, played without me for 2 days and i eventually wondered what had happened to him... I recieved a friend request from another account with his same name, so i went and looked at his main and bam, 1 VAC ban on record, 1 day since ban. So either he was closet hacking hardcore before, or he spent a couple days cheating while i was not with him. Part of me is like WTF, another part of me is thinking this is the first game i have ever seen VAC bans actually do something, and another part of me feels terrible that people succumb to that garbage. Good job VAC, keep up the good work.
About half the people that were blatantly cheating on NA3 have been banned since yesterday. Unfortunately, it's very possible your friend was using the ESP hack, which would not have made him any better of a player, but given him a distinct advantage about what other people had, etc. Just because someone -seems- like they aren't cheating doesn't mean they aren't. Unfortunately it doesn't look like VAC has quite caught up with some people, as three of the most blatant cheaters on NA3 are still admitting - IN CHAT mind you - that they don't gaf and would make the game unplayable if they could. My guess is, the people who were using the "free" ones (that VAC caught on to very quickly) got caught but they haven't caught the people paying those asshats at AA for cheats. I don't particularly believe in Karma, but I do know these guys will get whats coming.
VAC usually gathers lots of names and then issues bans in large waves. The first wave of VAC bans was not for all hacks. The people who got VAC banned in that first wave likely spent all December cheating away. And then it caught up to them. Happy fucking New Year.
