How long did you wait?
I have that issue from time to time, started a couple weeks ago. Sometimes it will go straight through, sometimes it will hang there for a long time. When it first started it would sometimes lock up and never come out but I had that just for a couple of days after the patch that introduced this was applied.
During those couple days what I did to totally get around it was to switch to the dev branch. You can still play on servers even if you have a newer version of the client. The dev branch didn't have the issue back then.. This might or might not fix your problem though.
