I recently built a base in the mountains and surrounded it with some regular spike walls. After returning the next day (real time) I noticed I was raided. Someone placed some large chests to easily jump over my spike walls and access my chest and raid me. I was quite disappointed that this happened, because I thought that the spike walls would defend my base, but obviously not. I am wondering if the placement of large chests will eventually change so that things like this, abusing the placement of chests, will end so that bases can't be raided like a snap of the finger. Thanks :)
did your base not have a roof?
It was on top of a large rock, it had a gate and then spike walls surrounding it

So no roof.
That's why. Always put a roof on your base.
good idea for a base but people always find a way in. I think metal foundations don't let people build near them. Not 100% on that. They could always build up and jump in, that sorta thing.
Are Large Spike Walls big enough to prevent people from jumping over?
So no roof? lol
The design of the base doesn't require a roof, and I don't get what's funny. This thread was simply asking if the large chest placement would be changed so if people have spike wall fences around a large group of shelters people couldn't jump over and raid them.
Working as intended.

the design of any base should have a roof. I don't care how many spike walls you have around it, if there is no roof, there is a way in and that is a poorly designed base.
You always need a roof. No windows. Here are some steps to making a beginner base;
1. Build a base large enough to store your valuables in the center. (A 3x3 is smallest)
2. NO WINDOWS
3. Metal Doors not wooden
4. Make at least two to three stories tall.
5. Make foundations with a pillar in the middle all around your structure. Make the pillars as tall as your base. This prevents stairs.
6. Spiked walls are nice for a slow down. They will not stop people entirely. Build them 2 to 3 deep with multiple gates.
All in all, this should slow them down. Make sure you have multiple metal doors leading to your storage room. Nothing is raid proof. Unless you stay on 24/7.

That is exactly what the problem of your base is... is the layout don't make it out in the open it is bound to get raided. Actually build a base then surround that with spikes for more defense lol...

Only down side is if you place c4 in the center of a wall you can destroy the wall with 2 c4, I don't know if this was patched already or not.

Imagine real life scenario, you are starving, there migt be food over that wall, the wall is too high to jump, but you have a box?. As garry stated, he is giving players the tools to form their own gameplay. I think its fine.
Yeah dude, you're still gonna need a house with a foundation and roof. Then you circle THAT with your spiked walls. Don't rely on the spikes too much though as they can be melee'd just like a wood door can.
