Don't know if this has been posted yet, but if you have your hatchet out and strafe or walk backwards, the animation glitches from the first person view, and occasionally the hatchet disappears completely.
The only way to bring it back up on screen is to put it away and bring it back out.
Yep I've encountered it my self while trying to gather wood at wood piles.
