hi!
I'd like to use this thread as a general feedback to the game in its current state. I also have some questions, prepare for a wall of text.
Me and my friends (5-6 people) used to play a lot of classic Rust. We disagreed with a lot of stuff and with some of the ways the game was presented, but we loved the concept and had a lot of fun, more than in any alpha I've playd so far. This weekend, we came to an agreement that the new Rust in it's current state is finally playable and surprisingly entirely enjoyable. A lot of dying and wasted hours of farming, but still a great experience. Basically what we expected from the new rust is now implemented and it's good. We've been playing all weekend, literally, trying to set foot and building a base that could at least last 2 or 3 days.
Our first base was set on the ground and got raided quite fast since it was all wood. The second base was made of stone, also on the ground, got raided. The third base was built on a very large rock and was all stone, but with one open door in the back. Got raided as soon as we logged out, some guy built a giant tower from outside the cupboard-radius and dropped down or some shit, I don't really know.
We rebuilt and by sunday evening, our base was 1000% secured, almost all-metal, built on a rock, three stories high and completely unreachable, no chance. Various false walls and fake doors, absolutely save. We made enough mistakes and learned from them.
Then, some guy walked through walls and demolished everything. He also walked into the cave that we locked up and tore it to shreds.
We're not sure if our base had another flaw in security that we didn't know or if it was bug exploiting or simply hacking. What do you think? We're also suspecting admin abuse, some admin who maybe in an act of self-righteousness tried to restore balance to a server by completely ruining the experience of a group of players. I suppose it was that.
What now? Of course we will rebuild, maybe on another server, most likely on another server. But what was our mistake? Trusting in walls? Shouldn't you feel save when you lock yourself up in a huge metal box? I think for the hours we put into those metal fragments, we should. Maybe you disagree :)
Do keep in mind, the game is still in alpha. You can bet on it that there will be bugs and such, and of course people will take advantage of that. All I can really say is that you should bear with it for now, it'll eventually get ironed out as the game is actually released.
I think there's a building stability exploit where people can build outwards from a tower further than normal. Hopefully gets patched (but probably non-urgent compared to other things)
There was a bug causing building parts to disappear for certain people, which has resulted in a lot of people crying hacker without knowing whether or not it was bug related. It's possible you we're unfortunate enough to fall victim to this.
I think I remember Garry saying he fixed this either yesterday or Friday, but the thing about developing this game is bugs come and go with each patch and it's hard to say for certain if they are gone for good. Hang in there!

This up date today might fix it

the current dissapearing bug I'm guessing is a race condition, the "entity created" message is arriving before the "destroy all these entities because you're dead" message

I put them on the same channel in this update
garry [9:54 AM]
so that should erradicate that problem, if it was it
Allahu Akbar!

One of my friends now decided to run a server on his own. He won't take any influence in the gameplay except for removing hackers and if you trust that promise, you are welcome to join us. We're friends irl, so we don't have clantags since we're not really a clan. Expect friendliness, but we'd also enjoy some PvP.
