Are there any plans to implement weapon attachments?
eg.
-Suppressors
-Sights/scopes
-flashlight attachments
-melee attachments (?) such as bayonets
etc.
Weapon attachments were (for me at least) a huge part of Legacy. They added an extra layer of immersion to combat, were a valuable and tradable commodity and allowed players an extra level of customization.
I would love to see attachments brought back into Rust. It would really make combat a whole lot more dynamic. I'm thinking telescopic sights (ranged sniping!), red - dot sights, EOTech holosights, suppressors, under-barrel grenade launchers (perhaps a bit far fetched), flashlights and perhaps even melee attachments.
Since many might think that adding a telescopic sight to a Bolt Action will be a recipe for unbalancing the game, I'm sure that there are a lot of ways to counterbalance. Price to craft, blueprint rarity, penalties to range/accuracy etc to name a few.
I genuinely think that attachments would be an awesome addition to Rust. Thoughts?
All in due time. I am pretty certain they will return as makeshift items.
It's on they mind map, so they will probably get around to it eventually after the core game has been worked through.
Bayonet would be perfect for a musket or 19th century-type single-shot rifle (or its junkyard equivalent). When unloaded, it would stab--no need for switching modes or more keymapping.
in my mind there should still be some military tech scopes left in the world..
Like it would be ultra rare and you could not research it, and could put it it on most rifles/mg's
Like any kind of scopes would be better than the iron sights of the bolt action right now, its just crap..
I dont want 8x + scopes, i ask for anything up to an acog scope, or half a binocular..
And as i said, there should still be a tiny bit of military grade attachments left in the world..
Its not like all sort of high grade technology disappeares after an nuclear disaster.
And it wouldnt be more usual than a C-4 in a barrel.. like 0,005 % chance would be enough..
And if you put the attachment for say a bolt action, u could not take it off or repair the gun(or the attachment), i think would balance the whole thing and it would be fair.
thoughts?

I agree with your sentiments on military grade weaponry. Aside from the fact that not all military grade goodies would have disappeared (I mean, there are radtown buildings, still-working streetlights etc),
we are already able to craft ludicrously perfect Thompson SMG's, complex medical syringes, hazmat equpiment and countless variants of perfect ammo. all out of raggedy-ass bits of twisted metal and logs.
I have no issue with this. I'm all for military grade stuff.
For the purists, perhaps another level of refinement could be applied to metal frag, or some sort of makeshift lathe or workbench could be added, allowing you to create more complex items.
I loved the weaponry from Legacy. The modern military feel made it feel like much more of an achievement
when you finally looted/crafted one. The same could be applied to Rust I think. A higher tier of weaponry, a tier of high quality weapons. All balanced of course.

I had envisioned some sort of bone or scrap metal blade which could be attached to the AK, bolt or Thompson. Then a higher tier version, a proper blade made from better materials which would Require more resources to craft and a bp.
