Hello Facepunch ;D ------------------ So basically what has happened is, my friend has given me his steam details and i changed the pass and email etc. I went on rust for 5 minutes into a server to see if it worked, it did, I went out of the server after 5 minutes and never rejoined. I came back on today and I am apparently VAC Banned, may I know why? My friend cannot get onto the steam anymore because he doesnt use it and all the info was changed. Steam ID ---------- SHAYTHEDOG Please help me get unbanned? I don't know why I am VAC banned.
You're friend gave you an account he hacked on GG!
He didn't, I could get on any other server fine before I disconnected. [editline]27th April 2014[/editline] And he didnt have access to the steam account before I joined the server for 5 mins, I changed everythingf that he could possibly use to get back int othe steam account. The way vac works is that when you cheat you get detected and days weeks or even months later your ban gets kicked in a wave with all the other cheaters. What that means is that you cheated some time ago and now you have been caught. Or if you are being honest then your friend cheated awhile back, found out that his cheat was no longer vac proof and ditched the account because it was going to be no longer useful in the future. I hope you didn't do him any favors before you got the account from him. Edit: Now that I think about it another possibility is that you purchased this account from a third party. If that's the case let this be a lesson to you and anyone else who may attempt the same thing. Just buy a legit version of the game on your own personal account otherwise you risk running into issues like this.
Its my friends account and my dad is a bit of a dick so he wont get me the game. I asked my friend, he said he never used any hacks on anything.
Not much of a friend to lie to you about that.

The account nickname was never changed. If its your friend account, you're still using his info/nick. Considering its your same profile here and in many places i would take a wild guess and say that's your account and not your " friend ". Either way, fp cant help you with that and steam wont lift your vac ban. Long story short, you cheated and you got banned for it. Good luck contacting steam support though.
my dad is a bit of a dick so he wont get me the game.
How about you get a job like the rest of us and buy it yourself, sqeaker.
First of all, I am a 16 year old so i am not a "Squeaker" and second off, It is my friends account and i can give you the whole skype conversation, and secondly he is from my school and he knows i'd kick the crap out of him if he hacks because i hate them

You're just digging yourself deeper [T]http://i.imgur.com/OvhOf6i.jpg[/T]
Good luck contacting steam support though.
Even more considering that selling/transferring personal accounts is against their ToS, so if he's being honest, he would also get it disabled for that.
It's really fun reading through threads by people who don't know how VAC works, and claim the account was never used to cheat. VAC uses a few techniques to catch cheaters: Black Listed modules, Memory modification, and just to back up with some evidence, DNS caches. Bans are delayed, sometimes up to 2 months after someone has cheated. So either you, or your pal cheated, there is no two ways about it. Valve has rarely unbanned people (HLSS and HLDS were originally VAC bannable). So either you admit that you cheated, or you have words with your pal. No one on this forum can help you.

There should be a sticky that preemptively says your VAC unban request is utter bullshit.
-nvm screw this, he hasn't come back since 2 hours ago.-
For a starter, I cba to change the age and I am 16, he is 16 too, and I dont put my real age on steam. [editline]27th April 2014[/editline] All i want to know is since my friend doesnt use it and I dont hack, is it possible that the VAC ban be lifted?

Your chances of a unban are EXTREMELY low. Also are you sure you might not have used the same PC as his? Left over files could have been unused cheats that were probably detected quickly by VAC. Or did you install a "map overlay"? This is a common cause that also gets people banned.
Steam never lift Vac Bans. So they won't do anything either.
Steam DOES lift VAC bans, both in the case of huge mistakes affecting many users, and in the case of individuals when an error can be demonstrated to have happened. It's seriously rare, yeah, but it's possible. Your point, of course, still stands -- this kid likely hacked and will have to rebuy the game, and Steam won't do shit to help him.

Account sharing is specifically prohibited by Steam's Terms of Service/EULA. So...assuming this "friend" even exists don't expect any sympathy from Steam Support. In fact...no...tell them that. See what happens.

We should add some kind of HUGE Banner saying: WE CAN'T REMOVE VAC BANS (VALVE ANTI CHEAT NOT FACEPUNCH ANTI CHEAT - FPAC).
We should add some kind of HUGE Banner saying: WE CAN'T REMOVE VAC BANS (VALVE ANTI CHEAT NOT FACEPUNCH ANTI CHEAT - FPAC).
It would be called FAC.

It would be mostly ignored and a handful of people who do read it will consider their case "important" enough that they get to break the rule.
It would be called FAC.
I must admit i was thinking of writing FAC but then i started thinking of FP and FPAC came as definitive hahaha :)

Couldn't you like, use Family Sharing ?
