I'm not sure if it's a unity thing (I know GPU physx is) or local to rust, but doesn't anyone know if we will get SLI support when DX12 rolls out next month?

DX12 support would be nice!
given some people are having to force dx9, i kind of doubt it :/
Probably will, but not all that fast. I definitely hope so.
Considering that the DX11 platform has been around since late 2009 and it just found its way into Rust a couple of weeks ago, I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for Rust to support DX12 in the near future.
DX12 is a better, faster and lighter API. Many with old hardware could see 50% improvement in FPS. It would be dumb not to use DX12.

And yet new Graphic Cards that have full support(12_1) must still be manufactured. As for your performance gain which is mostly because of the 'lower level programming' which would first have to be integrated to Unity and Rust.
Aka I wouldn't hold my breath for it to support DX12.
"Obviously in-game performance won’t simply double just by switching from DX11 to DX12. Performance in CPU limited scenarios will definitely see a great improvement. But in GPU limited scenarios the performance improvement will be more subtle.
Spreading the load across multiple cores as well as removing some of the inefficiencies will result in better performance across all games undoubtedly. However the degree of the improvement will also depend on how well the game code is optimized for multi-core CPUs. To put it in other words DX12 simply can’t solve a problem that exists within the game itself but it does the job that it’s supposed to, and brilliantly so.

Unity Founder: DX12 Alone Doesn’t Give A Significant Performance Boost
"Developers wanting to include DX12 support in their game engines would need to make top level changes to their framework structure."
