• Make guns harder to get

I would personally like to see a wider range from starting out to the point where you get a gun. Seems arrows are only good for 5minutes : /
You can easily beat a pistol guy with bow, hell me and my friend is running around in kevlar, m4s and a bow, you know, for silent killing.
I agree that all guns should be more difficult to obtain. The server I play on had a wipe and within 10 minutes someone already had a M4 and loads of ammo. Probably got lucky in the run to a rad area to get the m4, ammo, but to get 2 - 3 research kits as well to make his own ammo is unbelievable
I'm sure they will make kevlar/guns harder to get.
I agree, guns and/or ammo should be scarce enough that it wouldn't be wise to shoot naked people with M4's.

i just think there needs to be a larger range between lowest and highest quality for materials.

(I did not make this clear in my original post, sorry for that) There should be some 'sweet spot' of weapon scarcity that makes is feasible to defend against threats, but would be a waste to just kill naked monkeys on sight. As it is now I feel that the naked monkeys need some more protection.

I agree I think guns should be alot harder to create or get hold of.

You don't even need M4's or anything else. Get a few dudes with pipe shotguns and not only is ammo extremely cheap, they're hilariously powerful.
I would like to see more homemade weapons, kind of like the ones in the Metro games. They all have their positives and negatives, such as the bastard smg which can be discharged quickly and powerfully yet it is prone to jamming.

Guns are already hard to get if you craft them, the spawnrates in loot boxes on the other hand are quite high. Check 2 radplaces and you normally get at least 1 gun. Imho the problem isnt aquiring a gun, but the fact that they stay forever. Guns should break down after x number of shots, which would result in way less guns. Maybe make ammo only craftable and dont spawn it. The biggest issue with guns i have though, you dont know who has one with him. Playermodels should show guns. Right now any naked caveman is a threat. If they get to close to me i shot them, they might take out a shoutgun at any time. Id prefer if i hadnt have to do that, because i kill a lot of freshspawns and little bambis that way. I dont really like doing that, but it is necesarry to survive, so i will(normally after a warning though).
Once you have a research kit, you can just research the most powerful weapon and then craft a ton of them.
And do you have any idea how expensive it is to craft an m4? I guess not, so i will tell you. 25!! lower grade metal which is over 300 metal fragments which is over 50 metal ore which is about 5-7 rocks, depending on the outcome. That would only be the weapon part. Crafting ammunition is even more expensive. What makes people have all the guns, are the spawncrates and the fact that they stay ingame forever. (oh and btw, atm noone in the right mind crafts weapons oO its way to easy to get them otherwise)

how about we don't widen the gap between the zerg groups and solo players any more. because thats all you will accomplish by making guns harder to obtain. make explosives craftable at spawn just so we kill this tech gap completely ..
Making ammo/guns more rare will not solve the problem, it will only make it worse. Groups or players who have been on a server for a long time will have a HUGE advantage over newer players or people who can't spend 10 hours a day gaming. It is fair enough as it is, people need a way to defend themselves. Not to mention that bows are ALWAYS useful, silent killers, super good for killing zombies, wreck people even with Kevlar, I always carry a bow and 20-50 arrows with me.
Would you mind to tell me your ratio of crafted guns to spawned guns? I am quite sure it will be somewhat around 99 to 1? Edit: Btw, does you mentioning your expirience with guncrafting have a point? Because right now your post is a random "i have crafted all guns" without any deeper meaning (at least i cant see it)

Depends on the server, harder to get when you are in a populated server. Now if you're on a low pop server it's easier as you don't have to avoid PVP.
