• Please bring weapon attachments asap

I feel as if where the game is at now is amazingly solid i keep trying to play other games and am just like nup nup no where as good as rust. I know you guys feel like the game need to be closer to being finished before bringing in attachments but i honestly reckon this could be a finished game by many peoples standards. Lets get scopes and silencers and all that shiat. lets get this onto the top of their priority list if you agree
It's not finished by my standards...
The only way I want weapon attachments is if they're cobbled together like everything else. Things like suppressors made from old car oil filters, home made flashlights attached to guns with cloth, cobbled together scopes. I would be horribly disappointed if high tech items like holosights were added. To me, the ability to build modern military-grade hardware just ruined the survival feel in Legacy Rust. Seriously, EOTech / Bushnell are the only companies that ever managed to create parallax-free holosight technology in the real world. The idea that we should be able to create holosights in the Rust world is ludicrous at best.
I agree with Crunchmeister. I think that most gunpowder weapons are out of place at the moment. Maybe a pipe gun of some sort is the max. Spears and bows for the win!
just attach a fucken monoscope :P
If Galileo could make a telescope 300 years ago, then we should be able to craft a rudimentary scope in Rust. No lasers or holosights though. MAYBE a red dot, but nothing more high tech than that....
I dont think newmen have the equipment or knowledge Galileo possessed.
Please Garry never thought id say this back in the legacy days but i really want weapon flash lights back in. Doesnt need to be anything neat or pretty like what Crunchmeister said.
i agree i dont want high grade military attachments but homemade shity scopes. back in the day they made this thing thats like a target finder with a green dot very old tech.
I would like to be able to upgrade my wooden spear by adding a Stone Spear head attachment rather than having to build a whole new Stone Head Spear, with other attachments available like Bone, Metal or crystal available as well. Attachments could have cosmetic possibilities too, add a few feathers tied to leather straps and beads to the spear and we have a nice tribal looking spear, or we could add bones to our armor or even weapons.
You already build high level tech, like rocket launchers, different types of ammo. There's no need to point out to what's real and what's not. It's a game in the end and it's nowhere close to having primitive equipment.

exactly so lets get some fucking attachments aye

If I can make a code lock and a perfect Thompson SMG from bits of metal then I should also be able to make a UMP-9 with a a flashlight and an EOtech Holo sight. They should just require a lot of "teching up" to be able to get there. Like some sort of refinement technique that turns metal frag into something you could conceivably work with, and some sort of workbench/toolset that would allow you to craft metal items in much finer detail, thus allowing for the crafting of higher-quality items.
Let not bring selective realism into this. Attachments should be brought back I don't really care if instead of a red dot they have a magnify glass taped on with a on blade of grass for a cross hair, as long as it works the same. I just want my silenced red dot p250 back

Maybe in the future we will see rare factory made guns from airdrops that when broken leave some attachments behind for use with homemade guns? I think overall there should be really hard to obtain item tier that cannot be crafted and can only be looted from various sources like radtowns, caves, airdrops...
I think there should be a system where there's four gun modifiers for each weapon: Rusty, Hand-Made, Master-Crafted and Factory-New that modify how it looks and howit works. Eg. a Rusty scope is broken, a Hand-Crafted scope is normal, a Master-Crafted scope has adjustable zoom and a Factory-New one has a rangefinder and zeroing. This way people need to invert resources (Workshop anybody?) to craft higher tier weapons, or to set off for that rare Factory-New bolt action rifle. But on topic, most things players regularily craft (Rusty, Hand-Made) should look old, rusty and barely hanging there with some duct tape. And yes, I agree that attachments should be a priority for content.

In short, I think it's dumb that air drops give us the same shit items that we craft ourselves. I'd like to see proper guns, etc drop out of air drops and perhaps rad town crates. Items with durability (like guns and tools) would be single use - far more durability than our cobbled together items, but can't be repaired once they break. And they could be the source of reverse engineering that then allows us to build our own home-made versions as they currently are in the game. X number of the new, unused items + mats and a research table for a chance to get the BP. If that were the case, I'd be ok with some real modern weapons and accessories in the game. Otherwise, I think it would ruin the rustic feel the game currently has.
Certain items - like a scope - could be found ONLY as leftover military gear in a Radtown, and not researchable. Problem solved.

It does indeed make no sense for planes to drop homemade pipe shotguns. It would also improve trading since modern weapons and tools are a lot rarer and you can't just make them at home.

Airdrop only gear is a bad idea because it'll cause a have-have-not scenario with all the biggest clans stockpiling the good guns for themselves. Radtown found gear would work, but I would like to see the no build radius of the radtown extended by about 5-10% if it was implemented to help prevent clans from locking them all down for themselves. I would like to see the weapon attachments return, but I don't really want to see silencers. It seems like every game with a good silencer ends up devolving into a sniper fest, but maybe there's a way FP can work around that.
Ghetto scrapped together attachments would be nice, but I don't see them adding enough additional gameplay to really justify getting it out ASAP. I'm sure sooner than later it will come, but this forum is pretty bad at understanding priorities or even game development in general sometimes.
what about scopes made with pipes and loupes bended together

A step beyond cosmetics could give us low-tech bone armor too. Lord knows bone fragments are a brilliant resource in search of use.
Or the more advanced attachments can only be found but not crafted. This would make more since and keep them less common. Oh I was beat to it

We don't need silencers. The bow is a silencer
