Hello,
I think it's appropriate to state that I love the concept of Rust. However, lately, it has become more and more apparent that FP studios have began losing control of the game. First, there was the week of DDoS and now there is the sudden outbreak of marketed cheats hundreds of customers already. However, do not get me wrong, FP have been doing their best to counter this issues. Though, I worry that issues like this will begin to popup every week, not giving developers time to develop the game.
I am sure that the small team of FP are very talented individuals and they are not trying to turn Rust into WarZ. Clearly, the game will never reach the beta phase if these problems persist. In conclusion, I would rather have an unplayable game for now, than an unfinished game. If any devs read this, please make the future of the game a priority (assuming you haven't already).

Different forms of hacks and cheats have been in issue since the game went public, they fix them as they come. Rust is really the only thing Facepunch has on their plate at the moment and it's still in early alpha despite all the progress it's made. To think that the devs might start losing faith is an over the top assumption.
Just keep up with the feedback and report cheats like this and devs will get the job done don't you worry.

But that's the thing, cheat developers will now see rust as a gold mine. That vid got 65 k in 24 hours, and it's not even any good. Also, cheat devs don't have much to do either, so they can keep fixing what FP breaks. This will be an infinite loop.
Also, if we keep reporting cheats, what time will remain for the game dev itself?

If I looked really hard, I'm sure I could find working hacks for battlefield 4 or cod ghosts, or any current popular game. I can't remember the last game I owned that didn't have hackers. I don't know why you think hackers in an alpha will ruin the game? Its great there are all these alpha hacks, because FP will have time to fix them and remove them before launch.
You just described an issue every game has.

You're comparing AAA games with an small indie game. Rust has 5k simultaneous players max, BF4 and Ghost have 30k. Also, BF4 and Ghost are no longer in development. Those games are done, devs have all the time in the world to patch those hacks.
If you don't consider devs fixing hacks, "developing the game" then you need to do a little more homework on game development.
I dunno, I still think you're being a little paranoid here. I mean, I get the concern but I'm pretty sure they can handle it. It's not easy to moderate in game activities on FP-run servers yet. Creating a proper anti-cheat is indeed a part of game development. Most people scream for cheat fixes when they get screwed over in-game by one, so I honestly think it would be good to fix them rather than just dev the game while people lose interest.
They need to retain their faithful testers too, because the last thing they need is a bad reputation. Personally, I'm not a game dev and they are so I'm just gonna assume that they know what they're doing and will get it done right.
The hackers will be banned. VAC is literally infallible. So while it'll take a few weeks, have peace knowing that each idiot who buys and/or uses hacks is literally throwing money down the drain.

So let the game stay in alpha/beta longer before it launches, I'd much rather a "hack free" game on launch than a hack infested game.

Hacks can never be fixed. Hacks are a problem post-release, not before. Hack patching should never interfere with the core development of the game.
because in BF4 you wont lose all your things.. in RUST you will... so its a bigger problem in this game..WE dont want Hackers! not even one!

All the more reason for them to have less hacks. Developing a game is, in part, fixing security vulnerabilities and exploits.
They do this, to prevent hacking of the servers, and well, hacking of the game itself. Before doing any of that however, you need to reach a certain level of development. The game is not yet feature complete, so there's no reason to hackproof the game just yet. In fact, it would be counterproductive.
The game has VAC. VAC is enough, for now.

That's what i'm saying, lol. Devs shouldn't waste time hackproofing the game, until the release date. SO we are on the same side, why are you arguing?

Hacks are a post release problem in most games because the QA test team doesn't hack as part of the testing. Since this is a PUBLIC alpha, tons of issues will be found earlier than if there was no testing done at all.

Rust doesn't have a large enough development team to get away with this. It's an indie game.

What I got from your main post is that you're complaining about hackers not being fully adressed in an alpha. So, apparently I misinterpreted your main post, if that's the case, sorry. :v:
In any case, hacking is being slowly dealt with. In fact, one of the core parts of developing anything is making sure there's as few weakspots as possible. The hacking right now, will likely increase security over time. Hacking exploits will be fixed. That is a part of ongoing software development.
Thing is, most people don't seem to understand that it actually takes time to fix them, sometimes a lot of time. Especially if you don't want to break something else in the process.
So yeah, we definitely agree on that.

Yup, you have.

I'm just curious, why does everyone seem to not believe VAC is enabled? If it takes several weeks to get banned for cheating, and the game came out on the 11th on Steam, let's say cheats came out on the 15th. That means it'd be two weeks give or take since cheats were available and people who used them are probably looking at a ban in a week or two.
