I would like some way of sneaking up to someone without making a sound, yet crouching seems to make a faint walking sound, so if you have a pair of headphones, renders it a bit useless.
I feel the same way, they need to make crouch walking soundless so that walking still has a purpose.
Currently you might as well run at them and use the element of surprise. Crouching together with the 'I have walked 100 miles and I will walk 100 more' bug (aka footsteps after the player stops, like 1 or 2 of them) make ever so impossible to hide from players or walk around them.
One the one side i kinda like having to time my sneaky beaky movements with the person im sneaking on. (EG wait till they farm, move, turn on fire).
On the other hand i would love the ability to go totally silent when im camping a base. Especially with this patch and its bonus defence for bases.
Something simple like making Ctrl + Shift slow crouch walking.
Something similar to CS:GO walking function would be the best imo:
Having about the same movement speed as crouching while making a very faint noise which would be amplified regarding the ground material.
Grass would be much more noisy then metal or stone for example as walking on a flat,
solid material makes it much easier to hide footsteps sounds while grass itself and the many things it hides like branches cracks under your weight.
Then why should crouch not silent since its the same pace you may ask? It is much easier to maneuver and control your weight distribution while standing.
This way we can keep the fast walking by default since it makes it less threatening then a full on sprint when approaching people.
Plus we can keep the crouching for tactical use like hidding in bushes and dark corners.
maybe prone for stealth?
Have you ever tried sneaking up on someone in a field? You can't possibly be perfectly silent.
true max, but it would be nice to have running loudest, then walking, then crouching quiet, then prone crawling very quiet. the faster you move, the noisier you should be.
Still wondering what the devs think.
