• Placement almost impossible

Hello, Well that's a very quick bug report or an issue i may only have. I get the red foundation almost everywhere i want to place it, even the surface is completely normal. http://gyazo.com/54e125a049fade5bdf97cd2398eb08fa (evidence) I have the building permit on all my cupboards, i have the material. What's wrong???
May or may not be related to what the op is describing but it does seem more difficult to place certain items in relation to world objects like rocks. In legacy, you could usually place foundations halfway into rock walls and the like. On live, coming withing 2 yards of most walls will cause the foundation to go red and become unplaceable. I prefered the old "more relaxed" restrictions on building placement. I loved building bases that closely followed the surrounding terrain -- building that looked like they were growing out of their surroundings. This is much harder to accomplish on the live servers
Yes, the changements to the foundation placement system is extremely frustrating and limitating us way more than before. Plus it's realistical to place foudnation on rocks, i don't see anything wrong with this..
The OP isn't providing much in terms of details. There could be many causes for this. Are you able to place foundations or walls elsewhere? What server are you on? Is it a busy official server? If so, it may have reached its collider limit.

The server doesn't limit the colliders as there are only 6 bases, the server is very few populated.
Then I'm really at a loss. I know placement can be odd at times and I've encountered it recently. About a week ago when I was building the wall around my current base, it wouldn't let me place foundations. The same problem you're having, it seems. I got around it by attaching foundations to my main base directly and building outwards with 3 foundations. From there, it let me attach foundations to build the wall and I had no placement issues after that.
i have made different tests, the grass is actually blocking me to build and requires a very weird position to be placed...
I FOUND OUT WHY!!! I can't place anything near quarries! f**k the quarries!
lol Yup. There's a 15m exclusion zone around quarries.
15 meters... kidding meh the facepunch devs were drunk while thinking this?
Yeah, I honestly don't quite get it either...
Yeah, I honestly don't quite get it either...
As per the devblog , it's to prevent people from building a mass quarry pile within their base of operations. Remember, progress leads to perfection - This is just a small attempt at trying to stop people from getting too powerful
Garry said that they gonna add fences because castlewalls suck. Cant give source because i cant remember
I get this as well. I usually like to build on hills and near rocks. For instance, If I start with a 2x1 foundation then want to add a second later around to to make it a 3x4 sometime is does not allow me to place in certain spots. Like this: Sometime I get the sphere check error and sometimes I get no error but am still unable to place the foundations. I end have to work around it with traingles which is kind of aggravating with their costs being so high atm. It seems like triangles have a much less stringent sphere check when compared to square foundations.
If I start with a 2x1 foundation then want to add a second later around to to make it a 3x4 sometime is does not allow me to place in certain spots.
Yeah, "adding" to foundations has been glitch for the past few versions. It's a crapshoot. Sometimes I've had to delete every adjacent foundation before I could place, which of course means the new foundations won't line up. I'm not the only one with this issue, as evidenced by the number of bases I see where missing foundations have been patched up with floor pieces instead. Work in progress, I guess.
