Have been playing Rust for past few weeks, when I try to use the windows magnifier. I mess around with some of the values in the regedit under Start>Run>regedit , specifically under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ScreenMagnifier in an attempt to make it work, as it wasn't. (I couldn't use the Fullscreen or Lens option.) I then went on into Start>Run>services.msc and restarted the "Desktop Window Manager Session Manager". After a solid restart magnifier still didn't work.
Then I download two other programs too substitute Windows Magnifier; ZoomIt and clZoom. When I got one of these to work, specifically ZoomIt, I attempted to start Rust, which was open right before this entire process, and I recieved this error. I was unsure if it was something I had done so I backtracked and fixed anything I had altered. I continued to restart my computer, and when that didn't solve the issue and I still recieved this issue, I uninstalled Rust.
Upon re-installation of Rust, I recieved the error again, and to my frustration, I couldn't find any solution online, but I have seen two single bug reports for this specific error code within the past 11 days > Linked here;http://steamcommunity.com/app/252490/discussions/0/490125103617598449/
Now that I had re-installed Rust and was unable to find a solution to the error code, or even an understanding of what the code meant, I thought it would be a good idea to re-install Rust, while clearing the entire Rust folder out of my Steam Applications, located in my program files. After doing this, and re-installing Rust a second time, I still recieved the same "Rust Launcher Error: FatalError - Game startup failed. Error Code: 201" I had been recieving this entire time.
Finally, last night, I took a few hours of my time to remove Steam and the entire Steam folder from my Program Files, removing all 100+ of my games, and over 600 Gb of material off of my harddrive, in a final attempt to restore my Rust game. I re-installed steam, and Rust as my only game currently installed, and I STILL recieve the same "Rust Launcher Error: FatalError - Game startup failed. Error Code: 201"........ As a last resort, I ran a well-trusted anti-virus scanner for any process that could be blocking my launch, but to no prevail.
My game was working perfectly fine before the very first paragraph of what I explained above.
My system spec's:
P7H55-M LX Motherboard
Intel Core i7-3770 CPU @ 3.40Ghz
16 GB DDR2 RAM
EVGA GeForce GT 740 4GB GDDR5 Graphics Card
Windows 7 Pro SP1 (x64)
I have just discovered that the game itself is not malfunctioning, as I can start the game through RustClient.exe located in my Steam Directory, but the launcher listed as Rust.exe is malfunctioning, and giving me the error. When I start the game under RustClient.exe, I can indeed start the game and get to the main menu, and even the server browser, but I am kicked off any server I attempt to connect too for the reason of "EAC Not Connected"...
This forces me to use the bugged Rust.exe launcher, which proceeds to give me the error "Rust Launcher Error: FatalError - Game startup failed. Error Code: 201"
Please help~~!
I am unsure of any rules on double posting, but this isn't meant to bump rather to inform ~ I have currently gone and booted to a burned disk of Windows 7, x64, and have gone and re-formatted my hard drives second partition, wiping out every single file on my drive, other than the hard drives basic boot system, stored on the first partition.
So, after downloading Windows 7 again, and going on a separate computer with a usb stick for a network driver to download my remaining drivers, I am here, I have just now downloaded Steam, and am currently installing Rust.
I will let you all know the result~
double posting is fine, it's contentless "bump" posts you have to look out for.
please do keep us informed, just in case anyone else has the same issue.
After wiping my computer clean entirely, the game seems to have resumed basic functionality~
If you have this issue, this seemed like the only fix, and it can easily be achieved by re-installing windows.
Hi buddy, I'm having the same issue, I've tried a lot of things and nothing works ... But there's something interesting, some past days I could play idk how or why but it's kind of luck, somedays I can and others I can't ... So today i wanted to join my friends but i couldn't so I get frustrated then I'm here again
