Hi guys(and girls), I realy like the idea of modding rust. Ive been playing a game called 'Ultima Online' for years and I see some similarities with Rust. One of the things I rly enjoyed in UO was the 'champion spawn' system. Let me explain: There is an altar in the middle of nowhere on the map. Around this altar creeps spawn. Players start killing creeps and when they reach a specific number of kills the creeps will change into higher tier creeps. This goes on and on until the 'champion' spawns, the final boss. When you manage to kill the champion he drops extremely good loot. This whole thing sounds easy, but in reality it is one of the hardest things I ever experienced in a videogame. The whole thing could take hours and required good teamplay with your guild. Also, to make things even harder, other guilds would show up to contest the champion spawn for the loot. Anyway. I would realy like to create a mod that will let the server admin spawn the altar on the server. I have experience with c# and modding in Ultima Online. but never used unity3D. So I would like to know what tools do I need to mod the Rust server. And also, is my idea even possible at this stage. Do you guys mod in Unity or can I open and compile the server files in visual studio? Hope you guys can help.
as far as i can see, only pre-selected individuals can mod the game right now, were not among those special few.., this is basically a Rust++/Oxide/RustE support forum.
