SO Rust just relies on the VAC to stop cheaters?
There's not way to report people who spam chat for 24mins striaght (happened last night) or report people we see hacking?
I mean when i run after a guy and he moves 3x my speed and then walks right into my locked room with metal doors i think it's safe to assume he is hacking.
I could even provide Fraps about the guy.
I know it's been almost 2 weeks he hasn't been banned so i'm just out of luck and have to watch this guy hunt me down?
Hacking is a major problem.
He will be banned eventually. Unless it's a community server and the admins are willing to take action, there's nothing that you can do but wait.
It's a official server and it's been over 2 weeks. i've had to rebuild my house and stock it 3 times now. with 100+ people on everytime i get a chance to play it's hard to fight for stone resources.
this is nuts.. i mean i have a video of him moving 3x faster then me and walking through buildings but i can't do anything with it.
Yeah I've recorded over 5 hackers speed hacking. Walking through walls. Before the patch. Nothing you can do. Maybe send video to steam with profile and name. But there are guys running with no names as well. Just gotta wait till vac ban or another anti cheat measure in place.
and that is the problem with VAC. To my understanding it does not give autonomy to facepunch or any future admins to manually ban a confirmed cheater backed with numerous pieces of evidence. This is why we have to wait until the next VAC ban wave which realistically is only a minor inconvenience to the cheater because they will just get a new steam account and continue on destroying the game for everyone.
We had a discussion on our server the other day - I wonder what you guys think...
votekick / voteban - what's your opinion?
